Good morning!!!!

   / Good morning!!!! #91,981
It was 57°F here this morning and sunny. Forecast says 91°F this afternoon. Whuuuu? Too early for 90's!

I've got to drive into Katy / Houston, this morning, and run several errands so ...... that will kill most of the day. Maybe some more pasture work when I get back.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Prayers to all

Good morning to all! Low of 45, going up to 72 today, sunny, but the wind is going to practice today for the big show tomorrow. Winds today up to 40, predicting gusts to 65 tomorrow. We are getting the outflow effects of the storm hitting the NW CONUS. Going to drop the highs into the 40's and 50's until Sunday.

Claye, could you close the windows and doors? Please? At least the snow is staying up your way.

I got some tactor time the past couple of days fixing the private road and digging out a dirt berm that formed along the road due to all the wind. Got a bunch of the dirt (which usually was a lot of mud) off the road, then used the boxblade and dug up a bunch of stone (more than I thought was there) to fill in the ruts. Got it into usable shape, but going to work on it some more later on.

Then to start on the berm... I didn't realize how much dirt there was (filled in the drainage ditch). The area filled in is about 2-3' deep, 8' wide, and goes for 5-600' along the road. I got about 200' dug out. Still a bunch to do. There is a new owner of the property where all this dirt came from. He wants it back. He is going to spread it, seed, and irrigate the pasture. I think he didn't realize how much dirt there is. I'm dumping it over the fence where he'll pick it up. Those piles are about 5' high.

I'm seriously hoping that the forecasted winds aren't going to fill everything back in. I do expect to endure a substantial dust storm.

I hope everyone has a decent day. Today is errand day. Need to go to the PO, WallyWorld, bank, and TSC. I think I'll be worn out after that..... I hope.

Last night fell asleep for an hour....then tossed / turned for 3 hours, last I looked at the clock was 2:30am.
Then the pup was whining/crying at 5:30am... Got up and took him outside. He's not going back to bed....he's not going to let me go back either....maybe I'll sleep tonight...

I'm out of sorts today, so forgive my lack of response to other posts.... Everyone have a great day, prayers out as usual.

Good Morning Everyone!!!

A foggy 31ºF as today’s low, a foggy 38ºF presently, and a foggy mid 40ºF’s as today’s high temp with some shower activity later. Alternating periods of rain showers and mixed sun anticipated all week. It does look like a relatively dry weekend here in NE. Dr’s appointment and smoking a turkey breast are my planned activities today.

Gimping around the tree project Sunday got me thinking that maybe our “Specimen Ash” was cut down by mistake. I think a call to the Arborist is in order.

Steppenwolf- Definitely Spring down your way. Thanks for sharing a piece of your world.

According to the “experts” the early warming and then extreme cooling killed off 95% of the stinkbugs around here this Spring.

RonJH- We are not seeing a few species at all, or in extremely limited numbers; climate, weather, disease, habitat loss, normal population cycling, who knows? All I/Wifey know is that I will continue to enhance this property’s attractiveness for wildlife.

Ted- It amazes me to see how much topsoil gets blown across your road. Nice job grading your road. NM is a beautiful state; too bad the almost constant wind. Thanks for sharing. It appears that your knee is somewhat more cooperative to movements

I hope that everyone is having a decent day.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

Is that a phone pedestal box in the last picture?
If it is I hope that they buried that line a lot deeper then they do most of ours.
I have one in a ditch behind my mailbox that is only about 2 inches deeper then the bottom of the ditch.

----"Thanks for sharing. It appears that your knee is somewhat more cooperative to movements"----quote Jay

Well, it really wasn't.... I just won. Getting on and off was a challenge. I'm lucky it's an HST, so I can use the good leg to operate. The bad knee is just along for the ride. I can stretch it out or keep it in a position of comfort with the brace. Max time is about an hour on, hour + off.

Fortunately yes, it's burried deep. That pedestal is about halfway buried too. I'm only digging out to the "original" depth of the ditch. Our phone line runs across the road from the pedistal and was dug up previously a couple of years ago when they put a waterline in. It was only about 6 inches deep in the road. When they fixed it they put it deeper.

Ted- An hour on/off is workable if the pain/swelling can be managed enough so you can sleep. Are you wearing any kind of knee support? I am sorry to read about your dog related sleep disturbance. Take care.

Brogen had a barking, knock the bedroom door open 5:00AM episode this morning. The bird feeders were still up. I make sure there is no wildlife around before I let him out on tether. I could see him pulling that loaded woodcart to which he is tethered chasing after something.

I wish it was a wakeup; but I rarely sleep well.

Mr. Knee here needs more ROM and strength building. Yesterday's PT got my leg all kinds of swollen. I feel Mr Knee complaining more now than before the PT. The PT Exercycle was set for "hill" yesterday. I did not make +2 miles in 10 minutes, but I got a decent sweat going. That T-ROM brace is really getting in my way. Hopefully Friday the orthopedist will tell me I no longer need it or increase ROM enough to allow me more flexibility.

Yep, those exercise bikes are the detriment to knees.... My last experience on one at PT left me with an unscheduled trip to the orthopedist and he had to withdraw 75cc of fluid off the knee. He said no more bike exercises.....

Jay and Ted, (and others...)do you feel some days like the medical profession is just out to torture you?
Bend you one way, then the other, and it never feels good. And you always wind up getting swollen and puffy again.

However, I think now over the years I've read enough about a number of you who have had very successful repair
operations. Trying to keep active busy people off knees, legs, shoulders, arms, (and neck for me...) doesn't seem to work very well
unless they completely immobilize you like in the old days. But that means longer healing times, longer unemployment paid, higher medical costs, and the cost part is nuts I think if you consider how many times you have to return to the doc since it just isn't going away.

Ah, full dose of prednisone. No wonder I'm still walking after planting 110 tomato plants this morning.
Like Ted, time for a nap.

I managed my own health a little and got my primary to write the scrip instead of waiting for ENT.
Same ENT that took a month to get the test done in his office and then set the next appt for the gradual method six weeks out.
While I can't go into a public room with lots of noise in it. The ENT doc would not stand for that one minute...if it was him. Primary doc knows exactly how decrepit my body is and wrote the reduced dose I asked for. Plus she's hauling me in for an AIC because this medicine somehow affects one's sugar level. Which is usually not good at all.
Now I know why my arthritis doc didn't mention this to me.

we have all been playing in the mud. Wet feet, dirty legs, dripping sweat in my case.
And thoroughly satisfied out by my quiet self.
Well, there's the guy with the old white Chevy half ton with the amazingly loud mufflers he taunts the
neighborhood with, just loves to play that big musical instrument of his. I think he's deaf...
But then the sound of the train whistle starts and the rumble of heavy cars start, maybe once a day, and I can feel
the train work its way past me, five miles away, as it slightly vibrates the ground.
Just keep the train on the tracks folks.

Black Krim, Solar Flair, Dark Galaxy, Berkely Tie Dye and Parks Whopper tomatoes.
since I knew Don would ask...all large mostly dark tomatoes with fun colors.
I really need to can some of these tomatoes this year, probably freeze in zip loc bags.
Most store bought canned tomatoes have a lot of added salt.
Not off the vine...

Well here's a new one, at least for me.

Got a series of txt messages this morning, mistakenly sent to me instead of someone named Cassidy. I read them first on the copies that went to my email account, which didn't contain any photos. But it was clear that he was hoping for a pic of her kitty cat so he could share one of his rooster. Ewwwwwwww! Then came photos of him; reminded me of a shriveled up old garden gnome. Me thinks even if he'd have had the correct number, this ancient Romeo wouldn't have heard back from is Digital Age Juliet.

Anybody recognize this old goat? I briefly thought about playing along, but couldn't get over the gagging sensation when I saw the his photo...

Gracie is quite a storm chaser, last night she chased the thunder to every window in the house, when it slacked up she came over and laid down, looking very self satisfied.

59°F and partly cloudy this morning, going up to 72° today. It's already 70° at noon, so probably warmer than that.

Three day weekend was nice, and productive. Got the battery replaced in the F-150, and got the mowers running. The Husqy rider fired right up, belched a bit of smoke, then ran fine. The Dixon ZTR needed a few hours help from a battery charger, but then fired right up as well. Even cut a small section by the barn with it. Mowing season has unofficially begun at our place.

Took some reading this morning to get caught up. Welcome to the new guys.
