Harbor Freight tools that DO suck

I tried them once in a camera, even new they wouldn't power the camera. As said, they may work for a few minutes in a flashlight if they dont leak corrosive chemicals inside your light. I sure wouldn't put them in anything of value.

To be fair, cameras can be fussy about batteries. I can't even get name brand alkalines to work dependably in mine. It's either good (no Rayovacs) rechargeables or lithiums.
Or for whatever reason, the Chinese brand I'd never heard of AAs that came with it. :confused3:

I've had good luck with HF's alkalines in flashlights, remotes, etc., never bothered with the so-called heavy duty ones.

Gary, cameras are tough on batteries. And expensive.

Don't give up on the HFs! I've used the AAs and AAAs for years as replacements in flashlights and other inexpensive devices and never had a problem. Well maybe one leak I can recall, after a year or so. And that did no damage. I just wiped off the terminal.

The original batteries that come with the free flashlights don't seem to be as good as the yellow and black free batteries. Just my experience.

I have had just about all brand of batteries leak including Duracell and Rayovac. They leak as often as cheaper ones. I recently replaced some Duracell batteries in a flashlight that were still working but a bit dim. One of the batteries had began leaking. If I had left it much longer, it would likely have ruined my expensive LED flashlight.

Heck, duracrap batteries leak very often. I dont buy them for that reason. The HF batteries that you get free are not bad. Dont last a long time, but free is free. I'd not pay $ for them ....

The HF quick hitch was fully capable of showing me that I have no use for such a contraption,,,

I am glad I only spent $70 to learn, rather than the $300 or $400 that JD charges for the I-Match hitch,, that would be equally useless.

I found the same thing. My NH tractor has telescoping lower links and the turnbuckle system was replaced by a telescoping system with pins that slides. This quick hitch made it impossible to take advantage of both these features and was extremely frustrating. If I decide to go with another quick hitch it will be a Pats

The lower links on my 584 IH are extendable,, they are easier to use than a QH or Pats,,

I can hook up this 1200 pound land plane in under 5 minutes with zero struggle,,,

If I had a QH or Pats,, hookup would, as a minimum, require a crow bar and two people,,,

Why waste 5 minutes every time? For something like that with no PTO hookup I just back up to it and raise the QH. Then reach back and flip the levers over to lock it in place. 30 seconds max.

No crowbar, unless it's an implement that doesn't match (and that I rarely use) that requires taking the QH off, and then precision alignment with a 6 ft bar. It's easier to modify the implements than it is to rassle them around every time.

One new thing you can do with a QH is shove or tug an implement to align it - without getting off the tractor - if it has sunk into the earth crooked since it was last used.

QH isn't a perfect solution for everything but overall it's a great time (and back) saver, in my opinion. The one thing on a HF QH that needs upgrade if you have an implement that hits the the hook's bolts is buy the Speeco rear hook that has the hook offset farther back. $25~$30. And mount it with slide-in pins that can be changed more easily than the bolts.

My tractors are half the size of yours (18 and 24 hp). Like you, I have implements that are proportional in size to my tractors.

Both tractors are capable of backing up to an implement and shoving it around if it can't be hooked where it sits.

Here's a small implement modified to 'standard' QH conformance by adding a couple of washers so I can pick it up in a moment. Before, it tended to sink into the ground when not used so it had to be aligned with a crowbar every time. Now, just lift and go.

QH and a loop of chain at the top to make a top link that accommodates an extreme angle without binding. (Or lifting the tractor's rear tires off the ground,in this situation).

QH as the basis for back-up-and-lift rear forks I made. Pic 1 Pic2

The mower, forks, and trailers are the implements I swap among most frequently. It takes a just moment to drop in the towbar with trailer ball. Watering on uneven ground, it's handy to lift or lower the ball to level the waterline in the watering trailer as it nears empty.

And the QH is a good platform for mounting stuff. Temporary ballast for using the loader in a tight space behind the barn. A 3-point lifter I built for a drag harrow - Version 1. Version 2 with a pulley for compound lift.

For me swapping quickly among these applications without any back strain makes the QH worthwhile. When I occasionally need the box blade that isn't compatible, and is always sunk into the earth when I go to align it, I cuss and wish I had adapted it.



The only photo I have of a non compatible implement. This came with this tractor when I bought it. I've never used it, should get rid of it.

In summary - some people have applications where the QH is very useful.

Not so much a single tool or item, but their policy that was changed a few years ago. No more individual sockets or wrenches, only sets. Makes it a bugger if you lose one, or need a special size.

I just go to a local hardware store or Home Depot for that. Both sell singles in both SAE and metric.

The HF sockets are pretty good but the holders are absolutely awful. Even calling them a holder is a stretch. They’re pretty much a one time use shipping carton. I finally bought some more rails for mine.

You're not referring to the packaging that they hang on the peg with, are you?

You know that black plastic packaging is just so they can hang it on the peg at the store, right? It's not intended to be a reusable "tool holder".

That’s pretty much what it does. I am accustomed to wrenches and sockets coming in a reusable container.

I hate it when cashiers try to upselll crap and especially when they try to get you to join their stupid rewards whatever program. Especially when it’s backed up. I didn’t use to dislike the self checkout machines until one gave me $13 back in quarters.

They are pressured by HF to have 'X' number of extended warranty sales, and 'X' number of club member sales every month. If they don't hit the quota, they get a "coaching". If they go a few months in a row, they get reprimanded, and can be terminated also. I'm sure most of them *love* pitching it to you about as much as you *love* to have to hear it.

And just why do socket holders cost so much in the first place. Go to HD and look at what they want. I just can't understand the pricing.
