59°F and .19 inches rain.
Not as wet as expected but quite blustery. Forcast has today as major impact of the storm, guess we’ll see.

If it stays nice might get some painting done.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

... 17ºF was today’s low, 23ºF now, mid to high 20ºF’s later. The wood stove feels real good this AM and even better Wifey made some super caffeinated coffee. It looks like NE will see that cold, white stuff falling from the sky Tuesday/Wednesday. I may see 8” - 11” of snow mixed with sleet, freezing rain, and rain. It will begin and end frozen. Closer to the coast all/mostly rain, and those to my north and west will see more snow....

Good Morning, All!

Pretty much the same here, closer to the coast in NH near the Maine border. The snow forecast here varys from 6-12 inches for Tuesday-Wednesday with temps in the twenties, rising into the forties for next weekend.

RNG: interesting idea to input your elevation data into a spreadsheet, calculate volumes, and the corresponding 3d views. I have used an autodesk product called Land Desktop for years, now Civil 3D, for most of my survey work. Our leveling data is manually calculated when we perform level runs: Benchmark elevation plus rod reading equals HI, minus the many rod readings to calculate spot elevations. Repeat for the next HI setup. I use a standard field book five column format for those calcs. Trimble software is used to data process our survey grade gps and conventional survey observations. The data is then imported to C3D and can be used to create a digital terrain surface (dtm). Surfaces can be compared to obtain volumes via a few different machine methods though I rarely have a need as I am usually performing existing conditions type surveys. Your efforts have caused me to think how I would accomplish the same calcs with a spreadsheet, it would take some planning!

No big plans for today. My trickle chargers are reduced to the one bmw charger, so I am moving it between the atv and the bikes to keep them maintained. I am headed next door shortly to move Moms rehab project ahead.

Enjoy your day, Everyone!

RNG, for inspiration, there was a thread by jinman who dug out a lot of his pond using just his tractor. Can you start moving dirt with a boxblade to get a semblance of what your wants and needs are?

Rich, I'd love to see a pic of that champion framed machine if you ever have the time.

I refer to pant's waist and inseam like piston bore to stroke. I myself, since about 12 years ago have gotten "over square". :)

Farmer, hope you don't miss those veggies that cause you problems. Did you even like them in the first place? I was going to say we are going to take our daughter for a series of 6 hours tests conducted by a psychologist. One a month for the next few months. These are to further diagnose her, and hopefully to offer us some suggestions on how to deal with some of her stuff.

Time for church.

Take care all.

"I'm having trouble finding time to keep up. A new phenomena, falling behind, not getting to the last post in order to post myself, then not getting to come back to the party for a day and finding myself behind again."- Kyle

I spend probably more on-air time here than most nowadays and I too find it difficult to keep things straight here.

Kyle- I truly hope that the psych testing provides greater insight into your daughter’s cognitive functioning and hopefully develop new approaches to address her behaviors. I also hope that your daughter tolerates the testing and the tester and that she finds new ways to expand her range of responses.

A sunny beautiful NE Winter day. The pairs of Red Bellied, Hairy, and Downy woodpeckers are quite active at the suet feeder. Much to the displeasure of the blue jays, red breasted and slate backed nuthatches, and the tufted titmice.

I could, but I wanted to get a sense of how much dirt would need to be moved to make the building and surrounding parking pad. There are steep fines in this county for moving in excess of 100 cu. yd. of material without a grading permit, and there is evidence to suggest that inspectors are using satellite imagery to locate and charge violators. It's one of the biggest enforcement tools they have to use against rogue marijuana grows, and brings in hundreds of thousands in fines every year. I'm probably in the 30 cu. yd. range for the pad, but I'll also be terracing the top of the hill for a 30,000 gallon water tank, and the "driveway" to reduce its gradient. More measurements are in my future.

Dave, thank you for pointing me to software that is designed to handle elevation data. I'm using Apple's Numbers program because that's what I have already. I've looked at an open source graphics package that offers more control of 3D plots, but I'm getting lazy in my old age about learning new tricks and I'm hesitant to invest the time to learn a new software package. A quick glance at the Autodesk website reveals a multi-thousand dollar price tag on a C3D subscription, and I don't even have a Windoze machine to run it on anyway. But maybe there's an Open Source civil engineering package out there somewhere?

I give up trying to remember everything. I just do my best and enjoy reading the post.

Looks like we're going to get an opportunity to clear some more snow Tuesday into Wednesday...prediction here is 8-12 inches.

Say it ain't so. :(

That's more snow than we have gotten all winter. Get the snow plow on.
