Good morning!!!!

Bird, I like a nice semi sweet German Reisling, the only white wine other than champagne I like colder than room temp.
There are also "ice wines" that are very good dessert sipping wines. These are from the latest possible harvest, when your grapes are almost like raisins from the frost. Too sweet for me but always fun to taste. The terms auslese and spatlese come to mind and I forget which is more sweet among the Reislings. Have a special taste for this since the one time I was over there in the early 80's I remember drinking 3-4 dollar bottles of the local reisling that usually was spectacular. Hazy memory of a restaurant below street level somewhere in Southern Germany.

I think it was age 17 when I made the intimate acquaintance with the porcelain god of how can I feel this bad thanks
to Mogen David, or some other concord grape wine. I think the bottle said it was 17 percent alcohol. That can't be regular wine...
I had never been drunk and I wanted to find out what it was like. Most of us have been there at some point.

the weather drums are starting to beat more loudly, very cold temps coming. Mostly missing me, thankfully, but I'm keeping an eye out for
nights in the teens. That's when the sheets go out on the tender bushes.
Stay warm folks.

It is not going to be as cold tonight as it was last night. Only -6°F. It is snowing and will continue throughout the night and into tomorrow. They are talking 10-15cm, which will probably turn into 10-15 inches. I will find out in the morning. I'll be plowing, that is for sure. We've already got 2" on the ground and it is still snowing.

As for wine, I use to prefer Manischewitz. It is a sweet wine.

“Man o’ Manischewitz, what a wine!” Commercial from the 1960s.

I never stooped to the 75c Thunderbird, I maintained my standards and drank 99c Boone’s Farm! Preferably Strawberry Hill.

Boonies Farm... wondering why that famous brand took so long to surface. LOL.

For a dollar and a dime it’s mighty fine with Ripple wine may be mixed with Boone’s Farm

Happy birthday to buckeyefarmers sister

Old fashioned "Kosher" wines were/are fortified by process because of the required initial boiling of the grape pressings. I really do not fully understand the mumbo jumbo process/reasons, but sugar is added to the boiled liquid and then re-fermented to make something that tastes similar to cough medicine.... Actually cough medicine has a better bouquet and tastes and "finishes" better;) MD20:20 took fortified wine to an esoteric level.

This pic could be part of my rather extensive wine cellar in the 1960's-70's. Usually refortified with a product from some chem lab.

Good evening all.Yesterday, low 40's for the start, clear, calm wind. Increasing cloudiness during day, moderate south wind and high around 56F during the drive. Wife and I drove to STL to drop off granddaughter's new to her car. Sleeping issues slowed the start, but otherwise uneventful. She was working yesterday and today so we went to hotel and left for for home early this morning. 40F for the start, overcast light breeze. Drizzle to light rain STL to Springfield, Wind got to going, averaged 28MPG with full size F150, only 20MPG first half of today. Temp dropped to 36F before rebounding to 46F. No events on return home either. Wife doing well, thanks for well wishes and prayers.
Prayers for all.
