Youngest daughter has just started working in coronary care in a private hospital and decided to buy herself a new stethoscope, eldest daughter came home and saw it and put them on to see what they were like (youngest is a nurse, eldest at med school).
Put them on and looks away as youngest flicks the end with her finger, I almost had to break up a cat fight and I know it hurts when you get that done to you.
Was a Littman set that is a better unit than her old ones with a higher sensitivity.

Return the good one and buy them each their own from HF.

My Dr told me to buy a stethoscope and take my own BP. He said his cost $350.
I bought a $10 scope.
What a difference.

I was an EMT on an ambulance crew for many years. Back in the 80s the eletronic BP monitors were just being developed but we were not allowed to use them due to being unproven technology. Now I see the hospitals and ambulances routinely use the electronic BP monitors - supposedly they are more accurate, more consistent than a human taking a blood pressure. I still use my own cuff and stethoscope to check my BP.
But a stethoscope is used for so much more than just BP monitoring and I suppose an expensive one, quality one like the Littmann, would work better when listeing for things like heart murmurs, lung sounds, etc. Not to mention it would probably last longer - the tubing cracks and disintegrates on the cheap units.

The point I was making was that it hurts your ears when someone taps the 'microphone', this was far from a tap.
Littman have an excellent reputation and her old one was a Littman, the new one is just a better and more responsive unit recommended for coronary care staff.
Girls can be so catty at times.
She is also undergoing a course so she is able to perform adrenaline injections to the heart, it is a specialised unit as are most such as Oncology etc etc.

Having raised two daughters that were not always on the same wavelength, I can imagine that scenario, but the acting out was pretty much over by the time they got to high school. I hope this incident was just a flash in the pan.

I had 2 boys.
They both had girls.
One had twins and the other had 3 girls.

Girls do fight like cats.
Glad I had boys.

I would get out the video recorder and some popcorn. Show them later how childish they looked with arms flailing about :)

Excellent idea!

to think that one day we will depend on them, that is a worry.

Good luck on that. If you aren't supporting one or both of them the rest of your life, you're either smart or lucky. I think you are smart for getting them educated...in fact if I had it to do over, I would have absolutely insisted, but at some point you have to let them make their own decisions. If they leave your home with college degrees, especially an M.D. and a nursing degree, they should be able to make it on their own...barring a bad marriage, and other unforseen problems.

If you have a brother and haven't done something similar you are an exception!!!! :)

You should be very proud of them both. You should also get comfort from the fact that they love each other enough to do things like this to each other.

Don't pay any attention to the negative Nancys here. Jealousy is an ugly thing.... ;)

It's not so much about negativity, but experience. Sibling rivalry is normal, but we have to try to keep it within the normal range, and that chore usually falls to the parents. Without undue explanation, my relationship with my siblings could be, and could have been better.

Eldest lives at home but in her own unit, youngest drops in a couple of times a week or more to feed the dogs if we are away.
And I do have a brother that I would inflict my wrath upon, amazinglyy we get on well.
I remember when I was an apprentice tech our supervisor would waatch us soldering delicate items and flick us on the ear causing the iron to push into your finger, wouldn't be allowed to do that today.

I have 5 brothers and (had) 3 sisters (one pasted). We get along as well today as we did when kids. I have 2 sons. Oldest son has 1 each son and daughter. they get along very well.

Between my 2 grandpas, my dad and me, there's 17 women.... no other guys. We know when to head to the garage or basement

At any given time, some of them are/were not on speaking terms with others of them. I've never observed that to the extent as with my friends that had brothers, or my friends that have sons. They don't call it the hen house for no reason, and there's always a pecking order that's in constant ebb and flow. As they get older, it tends to settle down, but they still get on each other's nerves to some extent. And don't even factor in the phase of the moon....
