Good morning!!!!

Right now it looks like the snow will head more to the south, but we will get some. They say the coastal low might pull more moisture up, so we could get more. Boys fly out Sat afternoon, hopefully the snow will linger west long enough. Thankfully they don't fly via St L this time, but via Dallas.

Glad the girl in Wisc was found.

Good morning, everyone!

13F here this morning, forecast a high of 17 and windy, then low of 5 overnight. The ice fishermen will probably be out on the lake this weekend.

I have the day off, planning to visit Mom and add some insulation in a couple of places at her house. I may take a walk on the woodlot to inventory standing dead and downed trees. I plan to use the Kioti to help harvest firewood to add to the woodpile.

Edit to add: Regarding the fall on my stairs, I’m feeling better today after a good nights sleep. I was sore at work yesterday and had a bit of a headache come on last evening, but a couple of pills from what an off-road riding friend calls “youth in a bottle” (ibuprofen) has helped.

Have a great day, all!

Good Morning Everyone!!!!!

4:00AM appears to be the new normal wakeup (from 4:30AM). It really does not matter I do not sleep much nor well. 16ºF with light snow falling. Today’s low was 11ºF; presently12ºF with light snow falling. Today’s high may reach 17ºF. It will be a colder weekend around here. I does not matter we have plenty of firewood and food. A good day to count birds and feed the wood stove. The birds seem to sense when they are being counted.

We saw “Vice” and discovered a really nice restaurant yesterday. No surprises with the movie. The acting was pretty decent.

Thomas- I was on the wrong side slope for this past snow event. This weekend storm will be too far south and east to affect us. It’s a mid CONUS and midAtlantic storm. We will be seeing a clipper system midweek next week.

Dave- I am sorry to read about your slip and fall. I hope the aches&pains resolve quickly. My ribs still hurt from the last fall. I keep YakTrax on my lightweight hiking boots and these crampon-like chains on my snowshoeing boots, and have another pair of YakTrax available for my workboots this time of year.

Roy- I did not know YakTrax came with that diamondhead/chain configuration. I have the spring coil configuration. Your style appears more robust; better form my purposes. Take care of yourself and I hope you recover from your illness quickly.

Ron- I hope your swelling is not symptomatic of something more serious.

Don- Good luck with the tractor quest. You read to have a lot of other equipment with which to amuse yourself and amaze others.

Drew- I am impressed with your garden shed project. That steak looks like good eats. You earned your steak. I am happy to read that you are starting to feel better.

Eric- I am not surprised by your neighbor’s experience with ravens. They are incredibly smart and aggressive scavengers and predators. In the rare event that they check out the feeders the other birds keep their distance or leave. I have no clue why congregated on our driveway. The only explanation might be they were eating grit.

Rich- Good luck with the racing.

Randy- I hope that you can avoid all respiratory problems this year.

I hope that everyone has a decent Friday and weekend.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

It's not to bad this morning 25°. But we did get about a inch of snow overnight. That kind of surprises me they didn't say anything about that. Today will be partly cloudy with a high in the mid 30's.

Drew ... I'm usually the one that barrows hand tools from him. He doesn't lend out his equipment but he will come down and help me out if I need it. He will let me drive them if I'm helping him do something, like stack wood for his processor.

Not sure what today will bring, don't have any plans.

Hope everyone has a good start to the weekend.
CWB.

Good morning to all! Low only went down to 34F, currently light intermittent rain. Going up to 44. Maybe changing to snow tonight. Hopefully the temps and rain will melt off some of the snow piles.

With all the snow and now the rain, our driveway / road stone has disappeared !! I have not seen this much mud in the road in the last 20 years. A neighbor had access to a grader last summer and 'regraded' the road. I think he pulled up too much dirt from the side, and mixed it with the stone. It's now a mess....might be a costly mess....

Don, sounds like persistence might have to be the key to getting THE key. Hopefully it won't take too much longer.

Drew, that steak looked delicious! Also, HD and Lowes sell those countertops up to 12' lengths. I thought you were using it outside in a wet area, hence suggesting a cultured marble type product.

Randy, I hope Ellen's daughter gets over the flu quickly. I also hope that you can escape the bug this year...minimize your exposure.

Bird, maybe the rain will be just a passing shower and it will continue to dry out a bit.

Ron, I hope the swelling subsides. Usually swelling in a joint is from inflammatory response, when it does subside, try not to irritate it. Hard to do when in process of PT. Be your own advocate while at PT, don't push it...ask me how I know...

PJ, you reminded me of a time I went into town to work knowing a snow storm was approaching. Said the same thing to myself...I'll leave at noon... Well the storm blew in fast and hard...took me almost 6 hours to get home ! It was snowing 2-3" per hour.

Everyone facing weather challenges today, stay safe and warm! Prayers sent.

Good Morning!!!! 44F @ 7:45AM. Mostly cloudy skies. High 56F. Winds light and variable.

Might be time to apply the three Ss to those ravens, Eric: Shoot, Shovel, & Shutup!

Sounds like an interesting job, Dave, and a fun trip to Florida, too! I was amazed at how empty the race track stands were during my one and only trip to Daytona during Bike Week. They were all out on the main drag paddling their loud Harleys around. :confused2:

What a difference a day makes! Overnight the skies cleared and yesterday the sun came out and warmed and dried everything out. Just beautiful, a shame to waste it driving into town to run errands. But I came home with a truck full of work; things to repair and replace stuff in and around the house. I'm lucky to have a couple of days now of dry weather to get to it all.

Had a heck of a time posting to TBN or doing anything with the internet yesterday morning, then it quit working all together. Logged into the maintenance page for the satellite modem, and it was reporting trouble codes. Called HughesNet, and actually got someone that knew what they were doing for a change. Had me read him a few numbers off that page, he did something on his end, and got it going again. Then he says there's an alignment problem with the dish, and books a visit by a tech to straighten it out. Probably that repair I made on the dish after I hit it with the side-by-side.:ashamed: Txted my dish installer telling him what happened and that I needed to pick up that replacement bracket pronto, before the tech arrived, and he txted back that he'd gotten the job from Hughes and would send one of his guys out. Best of all, HughesNet waived the $125 fee.

Dropped by the VW mechanic's while I was in town yesterday to pick up the parts he was supposed to install this month. He never got around to ordering the clutch master cylinder, but I did manage to get the new buffers for the front differential mounts. I also got another dose of excuses about how his new blood pressure meds and lack of lunch were making him light headed, though. I made him feel better by telling him to make a pile of all my parts when he feels better so that I can come for them. And that I'll be doing the rest of the work on the van myself. Good riddance!

Hope you guys dealing with rough weather take it easy and stay safe!

TGIF Gang!:drink:

Sure a bunch of us on this forum getting old and worn out; me perhaps as much as any, if not more so. And I have a next door neighbor named Jack who has barely been getting around in the house with a walker. The last few years, I've been taking him to do his grocery shopping at Walmart. I go in and get one of the power carts and take it out to the car. When we get back, I get him and his walker in the house, then I take his groceries in. I take his mail in every day, take him to doctor appointments, etc. All just little chores that don't amount to much. I've done all his yard mowing for the last 8 years, but that's getting tough for me, too. Anyway, he has a young man (mid-20s?) renting a room from him.

Jack will be 89 the 24th of this month . . . if he lives that long. Jack has for a long time spent most of his time in a power recliner in the living room, 24 hours a day, with the TV going at an ear splitting volume. Naturally, he sleeps a lot. But he goes into the kitchen to take his pills (lots of them) and eat. However a couple of weeks ago, he fell in the kitchen one night, but was able to yell loud enough that his roomer woke up and got him up and back to his recliner. But the next morning, he was just sure that he had broken his shoulder. So, with my help, he called his primary care physician. He told me that once before someone came with a portable x-ray machine and he wanted them to do that again. Instead, the doctor's office called Jack's daughter-in-law and she came, called an ambulance and got him to the hospital. But no broken bones and he did not want to stay there, so she brought him home.

That same night, he went and fell in the bathroom and his renter managed to get him back to his power recliner in the living room. A few days later, he fell again, and had to have help to get back up. So last night, he fell in the kitchen and, apparently spent about 8 hours in the kitchen floor before his renter found him and called the fire department and their ambulance crew got him up checked him over, and no broken bones, so again he did not want to go to the hospital. I think he hates hospitals even more than I do.

Meals on Wheels has been bringing him a meal 5 days a week for at least a couple of years, and I was there when they delivered it this morning. I just came from over there and Jack was in his recliner, TV turned off, the meal from today still sitting where I left I on the seat of his rollator, untouched. I think he has given up, and just wants to die, and I can't say I blame him.

Sorry to be so long winded.

I told you a bit about my next door neighbor a week ago. Well, family, friends, and doctors finally convinced him to go to "rehab". A few minutes ago, the wheelchair van took him away to a nursing home/rehab facility, ostensibly for physical therapy to get strong enough to get around in the house with his walker without falling; supposedly for 3 to 6 weeks. Now I consider myself to be one of the world's worst at predicting what will happen in the future, but right now . . . . I really do not expect him to return home, but we'll see.

Bird- The statistics on length of stay for physical rehabilitation are surprising (~2 weeks). Who really knows for sure? Apparently and fortunately his support network extends beyond you which improves the odds of a return home. One thing for sure even if discharged back home Jack is now on a few more radar screens which may improve his chances for increased home bases supports and services (if he agrees). I hope this rehab works for everyones' sake, especially Jack's.

66°F and no rain.
A good start in the trenches yesterday. Pipes laid and back filled. I did run short of sand. Today will be hand shoveling and raking in attempt to get things leveled out. At this point looks like I’m short of base for George and will have to order some.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Is that a Hardy Boys mystery, Hunt for the Hidden Key? Or maybe a soon to be released Monty Python movie, Hunt for the Holy Key?
