Front-End Loader How to remove FEL without hydraulic power

Can't tell if the roof would support a hoist. If not and you have the $600 or so available, consider the HF gantry frame.

And when you are done you can re-mount the tire on the rim so the tread goes the right direction. Or since you're down under maybe the directional tread goes the other way?

Hi guys,

I need to remove the FEL to gain good access to engine and (hopefully) fix this machine after 12 months being out of action (no fuel delivery).

Currently the bucket is some 8 inches from the ground and takes forever to lower by itself.
Hydraulics and attachment pins are removed.

Photo shows the current situation. I cannot push the FEL upwards where it rests on the mountings unless I jack up the bucket a little, taking the pressure of the mountings. However I am unable to lift it over the hump and at the same time move it forward (to separate it from the tractor).

Ideas anyone?

Put 2 wood blocks under the "kickstand" legs, then put the loader in float. That will let the loader down and with the blocks under the kickstands, it will push up on the mounting brackets where the "towers" connect to the tractor.
Then you will need to get the two "towers" leaning forward so that they will disengage from the brackets on the tractor.
You might need to disconnect the quick connects from the loader valve, remove the quick connects from the ends of the hoses and stick the ends of the hoses in a bucket (to catch the fluid that comes out).

Wow, George, you are observant. Bet you’re the only one who noticed that.

Shipping a HF gantry frame to Daylesford, Victoria, Australia would probably be expensive.

You need to get the jack and blocks out from under the bucket. I see you have the pin removed from the left side bracket, I assume you have the right side also? If so you need to rig up some way to hold the front of the loader up from the top of the bucket or from under the cross tube so you can remove the blocks. Once the blocks and jack are out o& the way you can start lowering the bucket and arms , once the support legs touch the bucket should still be a few inches from the concrete, at this point the bucket weight will be gain to tilt the loader up and out of the rear supports the further it’s let down until the bucket rests flat on the concrete.

Also just noticed the kickstand legs are in the lowest holes, move them to the higher ones , this will give you more lift on the rear brackets as the bucket sets down.

I noticed it too. I have also seen youtube videos from other parts of the world where they run the fronts backwards. Maybe they know something I don't....good for them! :drink:

Or a neighbor with a loader or a one day rental, reach in with a loader lift it off, rechain and get it out of the way.

Very good suggestions here. First, I would lean towards using external power source to power the loader hydraulics. Second way, brace joist on either side of tractor and use a come-a-long or other "controlled" lifting device.
