Christmas is just another day. If you need something, just go out & buy it. No need to be disappointed year after year with people unsatisfied with your gifts. Then you wake up one day to realize it's Christmas & not some crappy gift giving contest.
There is another way to look at it. Pay attention throughout the year (or more) and figure out what turns one's crank. Then surprise them with a thoughtful gift. And no, it doesn't need to be on Xmas, because if you are like me, you would forget.OMG! Jaded and cynical. My sentiments exactly!![]()
The gift of giving goes back to Saint Nicholas around 300AD. As I understand the story, he inherited some wealth and proceeded to help people anonymously. Tossing gold coins through a window to three young girls to build a dowry and keep them from prostitution. I guess one or some of the coins fell into a shoe or stocking.
Com'n guys, don't be jaded by the commercialism. You are in control (sort of).
