Olly also sits out on the rock cliffs, watching the ducks come in and land on the little lake. I think he wishes, some times, that he was a duck. Or, perhaps, that they would land so he could play with them. He is still a 12 month old puppy and everything is playtime for him.

He'll never outgrow that. Ruger will be 8 YO in spring and still goes out to try to play with the chickens and turkeys, then cry when they won't accept him. He was rally bad with one group of hens that I had; in the evening when going to the roost they would "sing" together, and he would try to join them.

Well... We grabbed up another puppy today to join our family. Meet Red, a red bone hound and yellow lab mix that is commonly referred to as a red bone retriever. 20181217_173200.jpeg20181217_175428.jpeg20181217_175456.jpeg

Our little dog got an ornament from the tree. played a little. Took it in the crate. Protective of it, growling at me and other dog if got near.

Settled down and skinned it like he does with tennis balls.

I really do love this guy as much as any in the past I've cared for, but out of ALL the dogs since I've been alive, I've absolutely HATED taking him to the vet the most by far in any vehicle. This is my work car, about 125k more than the truck, so I use the car instead of the truck LOL

Our Border Collie waiting for my command to eat her kibble and leftover turkey from Christmas. She is the only dog we have that is willing to wait to be told to eat. I tease her with words that sound similar such as meat, seat, beat, treat, etc and she is able to wait for the word eat.

border collies are super intelligent........went to a sheep herding demo in ireland where they ran the dogs through their paces......really amazing......at the end the they had some of us come up to try to give some of the signals to the dogs.......one of the signals was to say "lee" which meant for the dog to round the sheep to the left......when I instructed the dog to "lee" it ran a few steps and then stopped and squatted and took a pee.......laughing hysterically the head guy said "you'll have to excuse her but it must be your american accent and she thought you told her to take a wee"......lol......Jack

Our neighbor had a border collie. As people said they are incredibly intelligent. Neighbor lives quite a ways away so unfortunately we didn't see "Digger" that much.
One day I'm in the yard picking up dead tree limbs after a windy night. I said "Digger, want to help me carry these to the trash pile?". He did. I'll never ever understand how he knew what I was saying or where the trash pile was.
The last day before he passed away he came over for a visit. Wife and I were cutting grass on separate mowers. I shut mine off and pet him. I motioned to my wife to shut hers off and she did. After a while I said "Digger...want to visit Nancy?". He immediately ran over to get to get pet. Again, he understood English and intentions. He was smarter than a lot of people I know!

And did she break a nail trying to assemble that shotgun? ;)

She's silly Staffy. Just got through cleaning the pow pow to see she found a nice little place to lay. OCD not a hair over.

You brought back memories.

Training for a new recruit...

At one time had 5 dogs that would sit at a time during feeding time waiting to get their command to eat (before kids).

The one in the pic above we found a great home for so he left us.

The ones we currently have came to us later in their lives and I'm still trying to teach the coon dog how to just sit LOL
