What's your favorite bourbon?

I have a long running bet with an old friend. We bet for a bottle of bourbon every time my high school team plays for the state championship.

The winner gets a bottle of bourbon of his choice. Last year, I had to get him a bottle of Maker's Mark. It was about $50.

In past years, when I won, I always got a bottle of Jim Beam Honey....about $18 a bottle.

I won this year, and I want to get something really good, but I'm not much of a bourbon drinker, so I don't really know what's good.

What is your favorite bourbon and why?

Is Crown Royal really bourbon? I'm not a whiskey drinker, and I especially do not like bourbon, but I do like Crown Royal.

I am not a connisuer of whiskey...
But...
I keep a bottle of Evan Williams in the cabinet when needed for colds...
Years ago when I typically got 2 to 3 sinus infections intermittent with colds per year I went with Evan Williams..
I remember back in college it was the burbon of choice...
I told my wife I certainly understand how folks develop a taste for it...
Over ice it is for my palette a good taste...
Bourbon opinions abound...
There is no right or wrong answer...
It's what you like...

Crown Royal is Candadian Rye Whiskey.

Bourbon is based on Corn.

Dissimilar flavors.

I was in the alcoholic beverage industry for 37 years.

Hard to beat Evan Williams for value in Bourbon.

Hard to beat Cluny for value in intensely flavored Scotch.

But his thread is not about value. It is about the highest quality Bourbons, with price a minimal consideration.

You are right. I'm not concerned with the price of the bottle I choose.

And I probably should not have titled this thread with 'Bourbon' .... Maybe it should have been 'alcoholic beverage', but I don't think I would like any vodka, rum, tequila, or anything like that. Whiskey or bourbon would be my preference. Maybe even scotch.....
