Umm, valid argument?
It will make many of us jealous. Then we will go buy a 72", our spouses will get angry, divorces will ensue and the economy will collapse.
That guy that approached me at the local store and telling me that they start to rust within a year caught me off guard. I googled the heck out of that one and found nothing. I do have a heated and cooled garage, I keep it at 45 degrees all winter unless I am going to be in there working, and I do not cool it in the summer unless I am going to be working... But it never gets below 45°F, and the garage is not wet or **** aside from melting snow from the F350 that is not used daily.
Once I get confirmation Thursday that one of the 2 Craftsman stacks is going away, I'll likely get moving on this and get the boxes ordered. I'm currently working 6 x 12 hour shifts at the scheduled maintenance outage of our nuke plant, so I may wait until after Nov 17th to get the boxes on my trailer. But I will take some photos of the setup if and when it materializes.
Some guys I know are saying to go spend 3 times the money on Extreme Tools boxes or similar, but for a home user I am not seeing ANY reason at all for me to drop $5,000 - $6,000 on a very similar build and size toolbox from a more "professional" name brand. Heck, I may go 2 weeks at a time without needing to even open a drawer. I highly doubt that I will wear out a HF US General box/slides in my house working on my vehicles and equipment. Maybe an 8 hour a day mechanic would see some real value in dropping $5000+, but I have a hard time believing even that. I don't think Extreme Tools or Snap On make magical tool boxes... but they do make 30" depth drawers instead of the 22".... But at the cost, I'll make do with the cute little 72"base, 56" top, and 2 side units. I should be just fine as long as they don't rust!
