Randy, Our Montana was long wheelbase with all the option. Definitely not a sport package. My Chevy Captiva has a nice handling package for a crossover

I like the Captiva better than the Equinox personally.
Lynn’s Montana was loaded as well, had the electric sliding doors and all, you just couldn’t find a Sport around here so it had to be ordered.

It was one year ago today, around 6 AM, that I lost my best friend, wife of 42 years and love of my life. My daughter and I are going to lunch with her today. ACCBA38D-09B3-4D29-A0F7-B7AC229F6A31.jpeg

R.I.P Toppops wife!

ronjhall; that project will be 'on hold' until Monday. Shopping yesterday, today and tomorrow along with haircuts for them on Friday will take up most of the days. I will do it when the hardware store is open all day, just in case I blow out the pipe. They are only open from 9 to 2 on Sundays right now. I do have the liquid plumber, so that is looked after.
Gotta go

Good Morning!!!! 70F @ 5:15AM. Partly cloudy. High 81F. Winds NNW at 5 to 10 mph.

Where in the world did you find that cow head, Drew? Very reminicent of something from "The Preacher" TV series, and quite frightful!

Never ridden the Tail of the Dragon, but we have several stretches of highway in the West that rival it for turns/mile. I'll keep them secret, though, so they don't turn into the circus the Dragon has become.

You're a very patient and caring man, Ed. The Boy is very fortunate to have you in his life.

Got email from the repair shop yesterday that the 17" laptop has been shipped back. Will be very glad to have it again, and relegate this iPad back to the coffee table where it belongs. There's just no substitute for MacOS.

Removed a 14 pin connector from the instrument panel in the van yesterday, cutting it out wire by wire and soldering the ends together before covering them with shrink wrap. The connector was another of the mechanic's favorite excuses for things not working as they should, and was made redundant by a better quality connector on the wiring upgrade I did last year on the instrument panel. Then spent most of the day discovering that the Neutral Position Switch wire had been connected to the lead that engages the starter solenoid in an effort to give a momentary signal to spoof the EMU into thinking that there actually was a neutral position switch on the vehicle. It didn't work because the EMU wants either 5 volts or no volts, and the starter solenoid sees 12 volts. There's a momentary switch on the clutch pedal to kill the cruise control when the pedal is pushed, and I repurposed that to switch a 5 volt signal that will then be connected to the NPS lead on the EMU. Had to run another multi-conductor cable from the engine compartment in the back of the van to the pedal way up front, and come up with the resistors for a voltage divider to get the 5 volts, but the parts drawer and box full of old wire prooved the adage "never throw anything away". Should have it all hooked up today for a trip into town for groceries to see if it works. If it does, I'll need to add another momentary switch on the clutch pedal for the cruise control, and make a pad to widen the pedal arm enough to trigger both switches. None of the mechanic's wiring dodges were documented anywhere, and asking what they did only drew blank stares and apologies of "I don't remember"...:banghead:

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

That's a new one to me. I'd like to try it if you post the recipe.

Bird I just threw everything together so measurements are approximate.

Baked Okra Stuffed Onion Rings.

1 lb. bag frozen okra
1 large red (or yellow sweet) onion

3/4 cup cornmeal
1/4 cup whole wheat flour
1 Tbs garlic powder or granules
1 Tbs black pepper
1 t salt (optional)
1/4 cup nutritional yeast (this adds a cheesy flavor)

Mix all the dry ingredients together.

Put the bag of frozen okra in the microwave till defrosted and slimy. Don't worry about the slime it's what makes the batter.

Slice the onion into 1/2" rings

Put the slimy okra, onion rings and the dry mixture into a large baggy and shake till well coated.

Pour all ingredients into baking pan. (I used a stone baking pan or you can use a silicon baking pan or a metal pan with parchment paper.)

Put the okra into the onion rings so it fits tight. (you will have some left over okra just bake it with the rest.)

Bake about 45-55 minutes until it turns brown at 375˚.

Good morning! 49˚ heading to 65˚ clear skies. The cat got aired out for 2 minutes before the cold drove him back in. I'm looking into "invisible fence" to keep the Whip from jumping the fence but I need to find out some info first. I have some questions on the TBN "invisible fence" thread.

Randy this is a sad remembrance day, hang in there.

Thanks all for the support for wife's uncle and family. It makes my heart happy..

Warmer here with the intermittent rains. Not freezing hard at night right now.

I need to redo the snowblower work (I put the augers halves back on wrong side so need to take it all apart again to change them), but the roadtrip last weekend really wore me out..

The reorgs at work are not helping things either, lots of change, lots unknown..

45°F and rain this morning, going up to 49° today. Looks like it will rain pretty much all day here.

We are officially "empty nesters" today. The Wife picked up the boy from work last night and took him to his new place. She said he was somewhat surprised that all of his stuff was already there, including his bedroom furniture. Now, we need to redo the basement bedroom. Just minor stuff, though, like wall touch-ups and carpet cleaning.

That stuff looks like it's probably no fun to mow, David. I suppose that's the part of "paradise" those of us who don't live there probably don't think much about; it take a bit of maintenance to keep it looking like paradise. Nice work.

I'm sure it will be impossible to not grieve today, Randy. However, try to spend a fair amount of time remembering the wonderful time you were privileged to spend together. Maybe make it a celebration of that.

. . . . . . . . . While still working I'd think about what I wanted to do during retirement. Today has been one of those daydreams.

Started off for the mountains while still dark. Hiked a section of the Appalachian Trail up Comptons Peak with great weather, and then another shorter trail. Then home, chat with wife a while, and now up a tree with my bow listening to acorns falling. . . . . . . .

Great weather? Are you sure you were on the AT? According to You Tube it rains everyday on trail. Seriously, that sounds like a great day.
