Good Morning!!!! 70F @ 5:15AM. Partly cloudy. High 81F. Winds NNW at 5 to 10 mph.
Where in the world did you find that cow head, Drew?

Very reminicent of something from "The Preacher" TV series, and quite frightful!
Never ridden the Tail of the Dragon, but we have several stretches of highway in the West that rival it for turns/mile. I'll keep them secret, though, so they don't turn into the circus the Dragon has become.
You're a very patient and caring man, Ed. The Boy is very fortunate to have you in his life.
Got email from the repair shop yesterday that the 17" laptop has been shipped back. Will be very glad to have it again, and relegate this iPad back to the coffee table where it belongs. There's just no substitute for MacOS.
Removed a 14 pin connector from the instrument panel in the van yesterday, cutting it out wire by wire and soldering the ends together before covering them with shrink wrap. The connector was another of the mechanic's favorite excuses for things not working as they should, and was made redundant by a better quality connector on the wiring upgrade I did last year on the instrument panel. Then spent most of the day discovering that the Neutral Position Switch wire had been connected to the lead that engages the starter solenoid in an effort to give a momentary signal to spoof the EMU into thinking that there actually was a neutral position switch on the vehicle. It didn't work because the EMU wants either 5 volts or no volts, and the starter solenoid sees 12 volts. There's a momentary switch on the clutch pedal to kill the cruise control when the pedal is pushed, and I repurposed that to switch a 5 volt signal that will then be connected to the NPS lead on the EMU. Had to run another multi-conductor cable from the engine compartment in the back of the van to the pedal way up front, and come up with the resistors for a voltage divider to get the 5 volts, but the parts drawer and box full of old wire prooved the adage "never throw anything away". Should have it all hooked up today for a trip into town for groceries to see if it works. If it does, I'll need to add another momentary switch on the clutch pedal for the cruise control, and make a pad to widen the pedal arm enough to trigger both switches. None of the mechanic's wiring dodges were documented anywhere, and asking what they did only drew blank stares and apologies of "I don't remember"...:banghead:
Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!
