I saw an old French woodcutter haul his pickup out of the woods behind his skidder when pulling out of the woods for spring breakup. He simply winched the front wheels off the ground and let the truck slam into the butt plate all of the way out. By the time he got to the tar the nose of the vehicle was stove all to crap.

He should have hitched it on backwards, then the rear bumper would've been the target, and not the radiator....

I am confused though since I see no straps holding any part of the dog kennel or pallet underneath it to the car.

Rob

Bolted right through. Can't you tell a permanent upgrade when you see one? ;)

Can also be used to transport Rover, since the pallet slats allow poop and pee to flow down to where the wind can dispose of them. Bonus, no dog hair on the seats!

And now you have space for the mother in law

No chance this was going to slide out of the bed at the low speed in downtown traffic. But if it did start moving that strap probably wouldn’t hold for long.

Reminds me of what I was told when tying a 10,000lb boat to the trailer, the ropes are not rated for 10,000lbs because they only need to be able to keep the trailer with the boat and the trailer only weighs 2,400lbs. We never had an issue, but I chuckle when I see heavy chains holding something down and wonder how heavy the trailer is..

I disagree with the logic. My CTL weighs 12k chained on a 5k trailer. If I use 3 one inch ratchet straps on the front and 3 on the back that should be good right? Wrong. Hard breaking could easily snap a 2500 pound strap on the back. Well that’s only in theory. The rubber tracks are high friction and the parking brake is good. I don’t think it’s going anywhere with no chains but I’m not that stupid. I usually use two 2 inch straps on the front and and a 3/8 grade 70 chain on the back. I really should use 5 tie downs per DOT regulation.

Speaking of cut up cars, hauling fuel and strapping down items (on the roof).. The Trifecta KeKe bonus..:

Oh man. That reminded me of what I saw once - Some tweaker in a car nearly as ratty as that passing everyone against oncoming traffic on a two lane road - with one naked rim ground down flat on the bottom. Sparks, noise, crazy driving. A couple of minutes later CHP passed us and pulled him over.
