Good morning!!!!

   / Good morning!!!! #78,581
79°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 96° today. Another short heat wave this week, then we're back to the 80s for next week. Not untypical of this time of year here, but that doesn't mean I have to like it.

Appreciate all the comments about my FIL's situation. It's not pretty, and we're expecting some manner of trouble when we start cleaning it out. Local law enforcement have already been involved, and are the ones who brought the whole situation to light when they condemned the place. The court orders have also left open the option to sue for damages, but everyone already knows that would be a fruitless endeavor. We'll just get a dumpster and start filling, and keep replacing dumpsters until it's done. Then, I guess he can figure out how much he wants to invest in it. His wife wants him to sell it, along with her old house, and get out of the rental business. I believe that would be a wise choice.

I'm with Rick on the dancing experience. I took a ballroom dancing class in high school. Everyone thought that was weird, until prom time rolled around, and all the "cool" guys were sitting at their tables watching me dance with all the good-looking girls.

Try to stay cool this week, fellas.

Eric got me at first with asalt. I was thinking, you misspelled it, lol.

"Sadly, this cleanup is going to cost him a lot of money."- PJS ^^^^ I saddens and maddens me. This family scenario is widespread. LE is already involved. There is not much more that FIL and family can do, but take advantage of available services (if any). I agree about selling the place or razing the property. :( I agree with Eric about your wife's character. This is a serious stressor with which you wife must deal.

Don- I loved the video. I agree with RNG- that "sling shot" guy appeared a little "buggy" himself. He seems to be an "interesting" character ;)

Drew- I agree with you about the Japanese natural catastrophes and terrorist calamities.

Ted- Thanks for sharing your pictures. Nice fence work........... All I can do is throw rocks in various "creative" :embarrassed: piles, garden perimeters, and stone walls (some structurally strong; some not).

Randy- You are a "Top Pop."

I can not jump, sing, nor dance. If I start to exhibit these types of behaviors; take my truck keys and lead me to a quiet corner....... No strobe lights please

So far a manageable day temperature-wise. Working outside makes the indoor temperatures seem cooler.. The A/C system will be installed tomorrow and the electrician will fire it up Thursday. This upgrade requires 40A wiring. Brogen has another date with the gulag tomorrow. It will be a little dicey transporting Brogen with the failing brakes on the Tundra (strobe lights and Tundra repair discussions can induce rage reactions:eek:)

I hope that everyone has a decent day.My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

If your gonna dance in texas, you gotta have the boots, hat, etc...

If you're gonna play in Texas,
You gotta have a fiddle in the band
That lead guitar is hot,
But not for "Louisiana man"
So rosin up that bow for "faded love"
And let's all dance
If you're gonna play in Texas,
You gotta have a fiddle in the band
I remember down in Houston
We were puttin' on a show
When a cowboy in the back stood up and yelled,
"Cotton-Eyed Joe"!
He said, "we love what you're doin'
Boys don't get us wrong,
There's just somethin' missin' in your song
If you're gonna play in Texas,
You gotta have a fiddle in the band
That lead guitar is hot,
But not for "Louisiana man"
So rosin up that bow for "faded love"
And let's all dance
If you're gonna play in Texas,
You gotta have a fiddle in the band
So we dusted off our boots and put our cowboy hats on straight
Them Texans raised the roof when Jeff opened up his case
You say y'all all want to two-step. you say ya want to doe-si-doe
Well, here's a fiddlin' song before we go
If you're gonna play in Texas,
You gotta have a fiddle in the band
That lead guitar is hot,
But not for "Louisiana man"
So rosin up that bow for "faded love"
And let's all dance
If you're gonna play in Texas,
You gotta have a fiddle in the band

72 this morning and headed to 92 today. Currently 88. Heat index 97.

Well Roy it’s the week of audits. I also am having a GAP audit today. Spent quite a bit of time over the last week getting ready for it. See how it goes.

Last of the hay is down and ready to bale. Am getting baler ready now. Just stopped for a break and to post since I haven’t in a few days. I do try to keep up with the reading but spend my time reading and no time to post.

Drew and Roy. PTO shafts can be a bear. But what I have learned it to keep everything slick.
Don’t use kroil or PB blaster or wd-40. They are good penetrants but they dry out.
Don’t use grease. It just harbors dirt.
I use fluid film. Spray stub shaft and inside of implement shaft. (Fluid film will also build up dirt but PB cleans it up really fast and then you can reapply the fluid film.)
The pin type is the easiest to hook up. Hardest is the one with the bolts going through them. 2-7/16 wrenches and 30 minutes later you’re ready.
To install. The locking collar type and the single pin type.

Place on tractor stub shaft and get splines aligned. (Don’t worry about the release yet).

Use one hand to work the release. (Left for me). Other hand supports implement shaft behind the u joint. (Right hand). U-joint between hands.

Now operate the release and then push and wiggle with right hand. Once you get it started then the release will hold itself open. At this time you can use both hands to slide implement shaft onto tractor pto.
By wiggling you will find there is a sweet spot where everything is lined up.

Blue nitrile gloves are great and cheap for all things oil and grease. I wear them when greasing equipment and changing oil. Also don’t over grease your implements. This will cut down on the amount of grease there is to get on you.
Anything sealed, greasing should stop just before grease is squeezed out. This keeps from destroying your seals and things will run longer even in dirt.
For really dirty conditions, apply a layer of clear silicone over seals. This will help hold them in place even if you over grease.
For unsealed fittings. You should see grease.

Hope this helps. And doesn’t read too dirty.

PJ. Sorry to hear about your FIL’s troubles. Family can be the worse customers.

Toppop well that says it all. Enjoy.

Eric. My first thought was also rocks. Then I got my phone screen out of the sun and into some shade.

You've got to be full of admiration for her though, not many would climb a ladder and then press on through a house in that state.

I agree with Eric about your wife's character.

She is definitely a Keeper, and this is just one of countless reasons. She never even hesitated, just climbed the ladder, pushed open the window and shades, and in she went. She's never been one to shy way from anything that just needs to be done.

I really am the luckiest guy on the planet.

Don. I don’t dance. Only groove I’m going to cut it with a piece of equipment. Preferably a dozer.

Same way with singing. I can’t carry a tune in
a sealed bucket.

Just got out of class in the Dog Club. Whipper is getting trained. The first class today was for owners only. Thursday Whipped gets her first hands on class by the pavilion. Today they have the sailing club racing there. Also in the parking lot of the association today was the Farmers Market with organic peaches from Fredricksville and sourdough bread. IMG_2132.JPG

I fully agree on the Fluid Film .... Farmer. I buy it by the case and have a can of it with brush that’s handy too.

I’ve got boxes of nitrile gloves for staining / finishing woodworking projects. For greasing and PTO hookup I buy the clear exam gloves like food servers use. I got the largest size possible so, they go on / off easily and they’re big enough to put on over work gloves to keep grease off of them.

this can't be Texas, your sailor neighbors are mighty small!

mowed fields for three hours, did my neighbor's overgrown field too while I was out there. He isn't coming back not that he would have done anything about that field anyway. Acute alcohol poisoning last time, then to nursing home, then to unwilling daughter since his farm is no longer livable. My other neighbor and I can't wait to see it come on the market and get bulldozed and cleaned up.

Wow, sorry to read that about your neighbor, Drew. Good that you're still sort of taking care of the place for him. Hoping your future new neighbor is less high-maintenance.

PJ, a real shame about FIL’s place. I suspect hoarding/slovenliness is now a protected class. I know years ago when had such a tenant in NJ and attorney said to basically do whatever to get them to leave voluntarily due to renters rights.

Don, pretty much another non dancer/slo dancer here. I did do square dancing when in grammar school, which was fun. I don’t have any snake boots but still have pair of combat boots.
