Eric, it is the fine folks from the folds of Irish backstreets that I can't seem to understand a single word being said. Do you have trouble with their strongest of dialects?
I've struggled to understand what was said quite a few times when giving tech support to one particular company in Ireland. Some of our engineers would almost hide under their desk to avoid taking the call. The Irish lot were great though, always had time for a laugh, even when they were having major problems.

Eric痴 Post reminded me of when I lived / worked in the UK back in the late 1970痴. I spent about a third of my time in London and rest in Aberdeen.

When I壇 go to the pub, with a few Scots that worked for me, we壇 have great conversations until they forgot and started lapsing into Gaelic slang. I壇 just sit back and listen and shortly they壇 realize what they were doing and we壇 all have a big laugh. By the time I headed backwards to the US, after almost 4 years, I got an ear for it and understood quite a bit. Like the US, the UK has lots of different 殿ccents? It still all English though.

Rick, dae ye no ken fit they say ? My Aunt Cath (not really an aunt, just a lovely lady who lived next door when I was growing up) came from Banff, which is a small coastal town just above Aberdeen. Did you visit there ? That area seemed to be much more remote in the days before oil was discovered and it's good to hear your friends were doing their best to keep that regional dialect going strong. If I could choose any voice for my car's sat nav, it would be that of a soft yet clearly spoken Scottish lady.

Good morning. Yesterday I only did a small section of brickwork and had finished by the afternoon. That's when our son rang to ask if he could borrow my Tanaka hedge trimmer. Of course, only problem is it stopped running 3 years ago, it needs looking at - if only I could find a bench to work on .... I'm not quite as experienced a heaper as buckeye's dad, but heading that way.

Inspired by David, for once in my life I put it all away before starting something new. Wow, what a revelation, so much space to work in !

Clean 1.jpg Project.jpg

With the carb cleaned and a new fuel line, it was running again. Then this crazy thought came into my head, why don't I delay the bottle of beer for a few more minutes and put away the tools that are still out ?

5S sustain phase before bedtime

Ron, did I pass ? :)

I was starting to feel better seeing cluttered workbenches and then Eric had to burst my bubble by showing
a pristine clean unmolested work top.

going to be hot today and for next few days, really hot
gardening volunteers coming early, have been working on a to do list for husband/wife team.
Nice they came back to work, she came last time and took home a bonanza of veggies without
doing much, so nice of them to come back. I think he wants to screw around with my tractors but I told them
this is a work day, not socializing since I have to make my dropoff to the food pantry today.
Can't mess up my ever so small veggie production line here.

Most thankful yesterday to find my sole peach still up on top of the peach tree, hard as a rock.
I want to pick it a little early, but not too early. I just know the squirrels will get it, really should net the
thing. One peach. Well, it's a start. Rest of peaches look lousy, leaves turning yellow like they did last year,
when they lost most of their leaves all at once. Thankfully they came back. Tough childhoods...
I've sprayed them twice in the last three weeks, nothing more I can do.

can't seem to sleep past 4am. I think I've awakened ancestral farmer genes. 5am sounds much better.

I've been reading some books with a Highland theme, sci fi nonsense but fun, and it's pretty clear the Scots don't think much of the Brits
and vice versa. And the language is fun. All those wee lasses running around...

Good morning all, 66 this morning with patchy fog, going to 92 with a 20% chance of T-storms. Might get some work done in the garage today, with the AC on if I do.

David, I need to refinish the joints in the ceiling of the garage but I will use a bow trowel when I do. So much easier than a knife.

Drew how many potatoes did you get in all?

Have a great day, prayers sent for all in need. Ed

Had a fleeting thought to finish and paint the Sheetrock. Thankfully, I took a deep breath, paused, and it passed. Gotta leave something for the next owner.

Power washed and back in place
<snip>
Did you consider taping?
For me the taping (and subsequent sanding) was always the most laborious, dusty and messy until I hooked a DeWalt ROS to the end of a $12 wet/dry vac. Put about 2" to 3" of water in the vac and extended the intake hose down so the incoming air was directed through the water like a hookah. Made the sanding a breeze and virtually dust free. Captures all the dust in water. Just need to remember to empty and wash the vacuum base out at the end of the day or the sludge dries to rock.

Worked much like the youtube videos of power drywall sanders without the expense.
