wow a lot going on. Prayers for moves, heads, moms and all the regular stuff. Ordered PM-25mv milling machine and a PM-1030 v metal lathe from Precision Matthews out of Pittsburgh Pa. Made in China of course but They do have a three year warranty. They are small but not mini by any means.

Hope you have a great afternoon. Ed

I definitely need more discipline putting things away.
Me too. I make a better piler than I do a filer.

A day of firsts. First peach ever and only one. First tomato of the year, a Solar Flair.
First garden peas I've ever grown myself and since my neighbor was so nice to shell them
for me, I can't wait to eat them.

Fedexed another couple of baggies of fresh vegetables to my 92 year old MIL, who despite her fussing
truly adores getting them. Gives her something to do...this time lots of pearl onions, both white and red, and
new potatoes, including fingerlings, to put in a stew.

corn turned out to be a joke, all that work for nothing. Not doing that again for sure.

FWIW, here's a list of motels and restaurants I compiled during the many work related trips I made to Albuquerque. It's at least eight years old now, so call ahead to make sure the establishment is still there and at least close to what it was during "my time". I remember the Owl being good, not great, and ate many excellent "Christmas" breakfast burritos at Hello Delli. The "show" was always "interesting" at The Frontier, it being very close to campus and all. Quarters had pretty decent Q, and a good liquor store as well. Garduno's was a favorite standby for authentic New Mexican food and had wonderful sopapillas. That said, I don't miss Albuquerque *at all*...

RNG, did you ever take the tram up to Sandia Peak and eat at High Finance? I understand it was closed about two years ago. Last time we were there’s was in 2015. Their steaks were always good and Patricia usually had the Salmon. Great views, especially at sunset. It was a bit above 10,000 ft.

Rode the tram once, but didn't stick around to eat. Refreshingly cool up there on a very hot summer day as I recall. And I did enjoy the view.

But the best view was from the airplane window as I was LEAVING Albuquerque for the LAST time!

RNG, since Anthony Bourdain has assumed room temperature, maybe you could take his place?

Never cared much for his show; something about the way he came off on his delivery.

Love to eat when I travel, but I'm retired! Besides, the best way to turn something you love into work is to try to get paid for it...:confused2:

Good evening to everyone! Got up to 98 in Albq today, 90 on the home front. Now have a 70-80% chance of rain this weekend... Sure hope it comes true.

RNG, very good list, however I would make a few suggestions for those visiting or traveling through Albq.
The only hotel on that list that I would stay at is the Sheraton on Louisiana. IF AT ALL POSSIBLE-- Do not stay overnight in the city! Crime has gotten way out of hand...the motels and hotels are prime targets for vehicle thefts... Including loaded trailers, U-Hauls, cars, and pickups in particular. We have had break-ins and car thefts right out of our 24hr surveillance, fenced, gated parking lot at our base. I have been here for the last 25 years and have watched this city deteriorate, especially during the last 5 years.

The only reason why I still work in Albq is because of what I get paid. I had an 8 year "retirement plan", but we have sped that up to about 2 years from now. I will take a big hit financially, but it will be well worth it! We WILL be leaving this area. We (EMS) and the fire dept have been issued bullet proof vests this year. Time to get out!

The tram is still operational for sightseeing and naturally skiing. The High Finance restaurant is being rebuilt into two separate restaurants, one being the expensive fine dining experience, the second being more of a "diner" type atmosphere for casual dining. They are supposed to reopen this fall. Many delays in construction due to the limited access to get materials to the top of a 10,800' mountain.

Do I detect a possible story of a mean girl somewhere in Albuq???

Randy, I don't recommend flipping Donzis. Did you spill your beer? :)

I was in a pretty bad boating accident. We were up in a cove with limestone walls. The gal I was dating (was an aerobics instructor and a true blonde) was skiing behind the boat. The driver liked looking at her more than where he was going, as were the other 3 guys in the boat besides myself. I was in the back spotting her while she ski'd. We ended up doing a motocross style berm shot corner off of a limestone cliff in his jet boat. We left skid marks about 15-20 above the water line. It was a glancing blow and not straight on. Fortunately, the opposite shoreline was a sandy nice beach just a 150 feet away, in which he drove the boat straight up on the sand. It was a miracle that no one got hurt. How I didn't burn myself on his exhaust headers, I'll never understand. Just another thing to thank the good Lord for.

Don, the secret to whippers long term, is to be able to make friends and learn to trust your friends. She needs to adopt more friends. :)

Drew, I tried to grow corn in a drought year and possibly the bugs got their fill but we didn't, but it just didn't grow good with water out of the hose. Congrats on your first mater and peach. Your are going to have those garden club ladies all worked up with your fruit crop!

Kittyhawk, glad for your headache to be gone. I would go crazy after even a whole day. Do be careful.

I'm trying to figure out how I got these 4 or 5 chigger bites on my legs???

PJS, our 4 little chickens are getting a bit fisty. I don't believe any are males. 2 will allow you to hold them, one of the other one's that doesn't like to be held, will jump up and attack you while you are holding one so we have to be careful of that. They follow me like puppies into the garden to eat grasshoppers. I call it grasshopper patrol.

Eric, I hope you have a nice visit with your company. How was the English garden trip your wifey made a few weeks ago? I met a guy who flies into our airport and has a hangar to work on planes...last name....Shropshire. I told him I could remember that.

Jay, glad your back online here.

Lenny, you too. Hope the move is something you wanted to do. That is quite the change. I heard that Vermont or NH (one of them) was going to offer up to $10,000 in state tax incentives if you moved there, but worked out of state or worked online for an out of state company. They would give you 2 years of $5000 tax breaks for moving there.

Prayers for all my peeps.

That's Vermont and a pretty dumb move IMHO. And, it's not just incentives (the way I read it). People moving in will actually get paid $10K to help with moving expenses and such. I'm going to drop it there since any further conversation would take it political...
