Cordless Hammer Drill Recoomend

I work in trades and use a drill / hammergill in the year round

I now have a 18-volt cordless battery with 2 batteries.

It is about 6 months old that leaves much more to be desired

I use it with 18 "wood or magnet bits, drywall, foam, top plate, brick mortar, using drill drill from 1/4" to 1/2 "hole.

I used it to pilot the hole drill and 1/2 "x 2 - 3" log bolt drive.

I installed it in a plastic anchor and screw it on the brick to use 3/16 "hole drill in a mortar.

The chalk tool is less and I think it's 3/8 "chalk.

I'm looking for a drill and bit that can be more powerful and that I stand to use to give it

Do you have any recommendations or ideas for drills and bits?

Do you use a drill for the same type of use as me?

Well - - for my really heavy duty stuff here on my property - not commercial - I like Milwaukee power tools. Those that I have - like my half inch Hole Hog drill - have withstood years of use and abuse with little or no ill effects. And about 95% of the Hole Hog use has been with it connected to my portable generator.

Does anybody even make hammer drills anymore? Old, OLD technology. You want an SDS or SDS Max. What brand 18 volt batteries do you have? Most of the name brands will have a decent cordless SDS drill. I personally carry around a corded Makita SDS with half a dozen different sized bits and a flat chipper for removing tile and brick. Super fast and easy. For bigger jobs I have a corded Makita 1 9/16 SDS Max that I use for jack hammering most of the time, but it's also great for driving in ground rods, and drilling bigger holes in concrete.

Dewalt is my standard tool OEM and have used a similar hammer drill quite a bit in rock, brick and concrete at the home site. However, for really heavy duty stuff a SDS +/max would be the go-to tool.

I only use the Ridged Cordless stuff. Only because it has the lifetime warranty that INCLUDES batteries! I never had much luck with cordless stuff and felt ripped off by the price of batteries compared to the packaged tool pricing.

So far, I have had no issues after five or more years.

A friend has the same, but the Ridged stuff wasn't quite HD enough for him and he went with the super expensive but powerful SNAP ON cordless tools.

I have a cordless hammer drill that’s more of a it’s all I have tool so it’ll have to work. The best money I’ve spent is a SDS max hammer drill. It didn’t come cheap, but it’s almost fun drilling holes with it. And it’s a pretty sweet mini jackhammer for taking up tile and such.

I run a 20v dewalt Hammerdrill with the 3.0AH batteries and its been indispensable building my house. I have drilled several holes through the concrete, but its not much of a substitute to a corded bosch hammerdrill that I also have. They now have the flex batteries that run 20v-60v. Never used them but they look interesting. Make sure youcompare model specs when looking at dewalt. The big box stores are famous for splashing the name and neglecting the details. they have a certain price point to meet and have a model for that price point. Make sure you get a brushless american made and get the big batteries not the 1.5Ah low profile ones. They also have different transmissions and functionality. Do your research.

If you have the flexibility use both corded and cordless.

Used this to reno bathroom and it's a solid work horse for the DIY'er and pro.
Did not smell any ozone emanating even when using it non-stop for minutes on end.

What is the model number of the drill you have?

I needed a battery after one of mine died and was looking for aftermarket ones on amazon. I found a 6AH one for $10 more than the 4ah ones I already had. I didn’t have much faith in their advertising but I figured I could afford $10 to find out. I was wrong. They’re like the energizer bunny and just keep going. I think my tools run a little stronger too.

Desalt cordless 18V for 1/4” holes in green concrete/blocks and soft brick. Corded Hitachi SDS for holes up to 1 1/4”. Milwaukee hole hog for the really big stuff in wood.

It depends on what you are doing. Brushless motors and Lithium ion batteries are really good features.
