Did you get the same model tire or did you increase the aggressiveness of the tread? When I had my Ferris I was terrible about tearing up the lawn on sharp turns, very heavy machine,
and I clearly wasn't smooth enough. Another reason for me to go back to a steering wheel.

A special Sunday morning prayer to all those men and women who died in the line of Service.
You aren't forgotten.

My Father could have been one of them in WWII.
And I never would have been...so just being grateful for my existence is a good place to start.

Some generations have a War. Mine was Vietnam.
Some of you older than me remember Korea well.
And here they are announcing the end of the Korean War.
Well, the Koreans are. If they can, and if it's real, I think we should too.

Korean war was just as bad as WWII, outnumbered freezing soldiers fighting for their lives, just as bad
as trench warfare in WWI, just as bad as Gettysburg or the Alamo.
All wars are bad news, some need to be fought, many don't.

Today it's all about trade and money. Maybe money and commerce is now more important
than bigger borders. But it will never protect us against the crazies.
Sadly I think we will always have a War On Terror.

Maybe, maybe, maybe some day we won't need a Memorial Day. At least not for our sons and daughters.

I need to go put some flags out at the end of the lane. Forgot to do that. I do it every year, feel strongly about this.
Just like I won't forget (Never Forget) what happened to my distant relatives in the gas chambers in Belzec.
Lot of folks to pay our respects to.

Morning all. Didnt need a phone app to see the lightning last night, it was all around us. Several storms came thru. No AC here at the farm, so we use lots of fans,
Wife wants to go home today after church, instead of tomorrow.

Good Morning!!!! 59F @ 5:00AM. Sunny. High 84F. Winds NW at 10 to 15 mph.

Eric, you must be worn out counting all those lightning strikes!

I wouldn't count the chickens on the Korean deal just yet, Drew. Even if some arrangement is arrived at, the proof will be in the pudding as to if it's adhered to. If history is any guide, the leopard doesn't change his spots easily, and the price of freedom is still eternal vigilance.

Very scary mobile home fire about five miles away overnight, but a quick response by firefighters had it under control before it had a chance to spread. Another fire in the same area, the Concow Fire, burned uncontrolled for two days, September 19-20, 2000, near the unincorporated communities of Concow and Yankee Hill, Butte County, California, about 100 miles north of Sacramento. The fire destroyed 14 structures, 28 vehicles and 1845 acres while firefighters saved 46 structures. One resident died in her house at the fire. At one point, the fire threatened to jump Lake Oroville and burn into the Town of Paradise, population 25,000. The person that was killed was my bulldozer neighbor's aunt, who ran back into her flaming house to save a dog. And the part of the fire that took the house was a back fire set by CalFire to create a fire break for the main fire. Locals had warned that the wind would switch directions and carry the back fire toward homes, but CalFire didn't listen. To this day, the local people do not trust the local firefighters to respond appropriately to wildfire, and my own experience during the Saddle Fire two years ago shows that is a wise position to take.

Finished the neighbor's trailer just in time, as he's headed south at this moment hauling the Ford Bronco he sold on Bring A Trailer earlier in the week. The new owner couldn't find a better deal than the $600 my neighbor asked to move it, and the neighbor will be bringing back cargo that has been waiting for some time for a ride; a real win-win.

When I dropped off the trailer, the neighbor's wife came into the shop and announced she had just rescued one of her goats from being stuck in a tree! Apparently it had up been there for quite some time, and it was no longer able to stand. She gave it some water and food, and then had proceeded to massage it in an effort to revive the numb limbs. I asked if her services extended to old goats, and got swatted for my inquiry.

Got my first scam hit from the Craig's List ad I have up for the BMW motorcycle, the usual payment with pickup from some unknown and probably fake shipping company. I responded with my own offer to deliver it and conduct the transaction face-to-face, and have only heard crickets as a result. Just as well as the trailer work yesterday took much longer than anticipated and I really need to get going on my own garage fun today to catch up.

But first, a bit of a nap, if I can manage to fall asleep with all the chirping and squawking going on outside.

55 when I got up at 7 and going to a high of 75. Wind SSE 11 gusting to 17 mph. 60% chance of showers.

I got the dug well back in service and washed the lawn mower. It is green but just before I washed it, it was brown from all the dust I had raised going over the dirt areas.

I am waiting impatiently for the gravel to arrive (half load season doesn't end until the end of May).
I am going back to work on the 3rd of June. After that, my involvement in these forums will come to an abrupt halt until next October or November.

My young lad (50) has all my passwords, so if I were to wake up dead he can go on the forums and let people know what has happened and cancel all my accounts.

Have a safe day all

Good morning to all! Low of 58, going up to only 86 today, 84 the next couple days. A nice slight cool down, albeit only temporary until mid week. No precip forecast, just dry, dry, dry....

Maybe will spread some of the mulch today using the tractor. Won't overdo it with any manual raking though. Wifey will be supervising, or should I say keeping me in line.

Eric, yes it is dark, no street lights whatsoever except for in the small towns. I usually leave for work at 04:00 and have to drive about 25 miles of mountainous roads to reach civilization. Along the way, there is a lot of suicidal deer, coyotes, jack rabbits, and the occasional cow. After a few close calls, I figured I'd just light it up like daytime! We also will go off-roading in the desert (sometimes at night, which is really cool) also requiring a substantial lighting package so one doesn't drive off a cliff into an arroyo.

Wng, surprisingly, there is a giant pile of mulch at the trash transfer station. They have a permanent shredder set up. The area here is very mountainous and heavily wooded with tall pines, pinion, and juniper. Residents cut / clear / trim the trees on their properties for 'wildfire control'. All the slash gets taken to the transfer station for shredding. The mulch is free for area residents, they charge $5 to load whatever you want loaded (truck, trailer, etc). They will deliver a 40YD container of mulch for $60.

They actually consider wood mulch to be a fire suppression method to slow down a ground brush fire. It retains moisture...something seriously lacking here. They recommend having a 25-50' perimeter around any structures. The fire dept will consider it a "defendable structure" and may drive past another house that doesn't have that perimeter.

My property lies about 1 mile from the base of a mountain that is heavily wooded. The area around the base of the mountain was clear cut during the land grants in the 1800's. It was farmed (primarily pinto beans) for close to 100 years. That is why we didn't have any trees on our property when we bought it. Now I have my own oasis!

Randy, glad your BBQ went well. It's great to have the family together.

Ed, sounds like a good deal / equipment, hope you get everything working without too much difficulty.

RNG, hope you don't get too much harassment from the c-list scammers...sounds like you have some fun with them though... Good luck with the sale.

Drew, take care in the garden today...made us chuckle with the visualization of you sitting in the garden, napping in the chair, holding the garden hose in one hand, a hoe in the other...:D my hat is off to you sir! All this work for the good of others...you are truly a special person.

Prayers out for those healing and to those needing. Everyone have a great weekend !

The forecast of 60% chance of showers just became 100%. Thunderstorms. I got my ramp into another place to serve as a snow dump done and the skies opened up. No grass cutting today, that is for sure now.

my involvement in these forums will come to an abrupt halt until next October or November.

We all agree that is simply unacceptable. :D Perhaps a laptop to take with you?
Where else will I get my Northern Ontario news?

Safe travels in June.

LS, gratitude will only get you a Borlotta Vigevano from Italy, or a Dragon's Tongue bean from Holland.
Am thinking that's left and right on the counter but I could have them backwards...
One has purple accents and the other is green and red.
Meatier than regular snap beans or green beans, whatever folks call them, and I am intentionally trying to pick these
young so the plant has more energy to grow. Some of these beans are longer than the plant...energetic cool beans.

Took me over a hour to pick these and the sun got hot.
pacing myself...
