JD2305
Hi everyone,
.
Have a JD2305. Tried bypassing seat safety switch so I could run PTO to clean out sprayer without being seated on tractor. Used jumper to bypass switch.

Tractor would turn over and run but not continue to run after I released key. Reconnected seat safety switch but now have same problem: tractor will turn over and run but not continue to run after I release key.

What did I do? What should I do now?

BTW it is a 2 wire seat switch, not a 4 wire switch.

Thanks

I'm sorry I can't help with your current problem, but you shouldn't have had to bypass the switch in the first place. With the transmission in neutral and the brakes set, the PTO should have run without anyone in the seat. If that didn't work, there was probably some issue to start with.

Looks like you need to track down the wiring to the solenoids and start sorting the logic out.

That's a good and simple place to start. Keep it simple and check the fuses and the relays - they're all 'plug in' and in the same area. Relays can be swapped to see if the fault (starting) transfers to somewhere else.

Your Owner Manual will have a diagram of fuse/relay positions and rating.

I'm the biggest dummy! I assumed the engine wouldn't turn over if it was a fuse. Wrong. It was a fuse. Thx for your help!

You're very welcome and thanks for the follow-up. Glad to be of help & that's what TBN is all about.

Sometimes it just takes an extra set of eyes to see the problem.
