I'm at a crossroads with my tractor upgrade. I'm trying to decide if the $12k price difference is worthwhile between the two machines. I'm down to a JD110 with all the hydraulics, 3pt hitch, 4 in 1 loader and 2500 hours or an M59 with no remotes or 3pt linkage. It does have 1400 hours, front hydraulics and a thumb, but no top and tilt remotes. Im getting stingy in my old age, but I'm concerned about parts availability with the discontinued JD and the myriad of sensors issues as reported on TBN as well as the few catastrophic bellhousing failures. Am I better off with the M59 or shall I keep a $12k reserve for the 110? I need to cut roads, disk, till, mow, grade and dig trench for my ranch, and I need to lift a minimum of 2000 pounds on a pallet. I would have kept my Mahindra 3616, but I couldnt even lift a single 4x3x8 hay bale. These machines should be able to lift two at a time. Thanks for your input!

I have a 1983 JD 310B and always thought the JD 110 was be a more ideal size all around use. Why do you think there will be trouble getting parts? While they are not cheap I am finding New Holland still inventories most of the parts for our 1966 Ford 3000 diesel and I have older parts through JD for our JD 310B. Best of luck with any route you wind up taking.

If it were me, I'd try to find a way to put the newer, more capable machine to work on my place, recognizing it would be a bigger outlay up front. Once the rough work is done you should be able to get most of your money out of either one, if you decide to change over to something that's set up more for farm and property care instead of construction work.

With a pretty short production run (12 years?)........
I like the 110 very much myself but I echo your concerns.

I own an M59, Operated a JD110 numerous times (not mine). In the construction world the M59 out works and out lifts the 110 by a lot. If you can, try them out for a few days, you will see the diff.

With all the people around me that have had issues with the 110 I personally would be looking at the M59.

I was looking at JD 110s and couldn't find what I wanted. Went with the M59, and it is quite a nice machine. It has more capability than the 110. One of the big ones is the way the seat pivots around between forward and backhoe.
Take a look at the specs. I think you will find that the M59 beats the 110 in every department. Having said that, I've always had a soft spot for JD, and wish they had upgraded the 110 to be competitive.

I use that M59 most days. It is our "go to" machine.
