(Randy, wonder why the sudden urge to clean up your truck? Wouldn't have to do with your new lady, would it? :))

Not me, Ed, I’m just giving advice.

RNG, depends on what dessert is! LOL

Steady hard rain since last night, minor flooding already, wind started about midday. Changing to snow by morning with 3-6 inches. Wind 15-50+ tomorrow.
It’s going to be a race to beat it south in the morning.

Good morning! 51˚ the coolest morning for many months most likely as the wind changes from the South tomorrow an temps go back into the 80˚s. No chance of rain and getting dry. Our best chance of rain looks to be after Easter.

Mom gets her yard century Post Oak tree cut down today. It was the biggest oldest tree in the yard. I'll count the rings to see you many hundred years old it was. It died when Dad died. It's way too big for me to tackle so we are calling out the pros.

Eric, your left knee sounds exactly like my left knee.

Ed are private rooms available in the nursing home? Is there another nursing home to try. In the 6 months my dad was in nursing homes he was in three and each one was very different. The one that stood out had a waiting list and he never made it back there after rehab, but the one he died in was OK. The other residents were helpful with him and kept an eye on him.

Not for people on Medicaid. They stuck her in a room with a lady that has panic attacks. don't know what we can do about it. She would grumble about anyone she had to be around if the past is any indication. I think she thinks that her usefulness is over and that is hard for her. This nursing home is very good and only 3 mi away so I hope we can keep her there. Thanks Ed

Ed, if you spend a bunch of time cleaning those carpets in the truck, the deep stains will just bleed back through. You can get them out in an hour or less. Doesn稚 make sense to best your brains out on it buddy.

I will keep that in mind. Was hoping I could do a little at a time. Pulling the seat, seat belts, the console and door trim sounds like a lot of time and work. Will have to think about it and see if I am going to fool with it. Ed

"..... Some you can tell just walking in by the smell that it's no fit place to live."- RNG I agree; especially what you posted about the "better" facilities.

I really do not know which was worse- the "smell" or the smell of Fabreeze(sp?). My staff and I were "responsible" for the State takeover of a chain of Nursing Home/Rehab facilities and their "closure" due to complaints directed to the Ombudsperson assigned to the facility for abuse by virtue of neglect. When I went to places to evaluate a resident the first thing I did walking in the door was take a whiff and assess the direct care staff's attitudes and behaviors when dealing with residents. There were the good, the bad, and the ugly. Some staff were obviously there for the $ and poor $ at the wages the CNA's and HHA's are paid.

Ed- I would talk to your Mom's caseworker about what's going on. It reads to be an "OK" facility. I doubt insurance would pay for a private room ($ and/or "bad" behavior) can get one a private room. I would not encourage "bad" behavior. I would try to talk to the Activities Director too and encourage social activity. Ed a strange question- Check the calendar on the wall in Mom's room and see if it is the correct month.

Buppies- I am surprised that the NWS issued a Winter Weather Watch for my area. This is predominantly a MIdAtlantic and Southern Coastal New England elevation snow/rain event. I do not expect the predicted 4"'s here. Phil may see 8" - 12" based on his elevation and storm track. Two more systems are modeled for March into April. April, historically, has been an active month for coastal storms dropping decent amounts of snow around here.

Randy- Keep it up.... I mean keep up the good work.

Andrew- Good luck with the new tractor.

LS- Good luck with the MCL.

It's hard to think Spring when it is 20F outside and there is +1' of snow on the ground and more anticipated. There is no snow down in the "Valley."

Lately Wifey and I have become "Perry Mason" addicts.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayer for all.

They are calling us and talking to us about it several times a day or more. They have called 4 times today. I feel good about what they are doing. Ed

Ed, if you insist on doing it the hard way.... just kidding buddy!
Mix oxy clean and joy in very heavy mix and use a brush and shop vac.

hard to believe folks in Eastern PA and NJ getting socked again:
Additional snow accumulations of 11 to 15 inches, with localized amounts up to
17 inches,

   / Good morning!!!! #73,028
Well I'm kind of liking our forecast, wish it was warmer but with a snow range of 0 to 1 inch I'm not going to complain much about the temps. Will be nice for me when the sap runs end :cool2:

they are saying a foot of snow on the I95 corridor tomorrow.
If they declare snow emergency no one is going anywhere

my day was just for the beans

a 31 crept into the forecast for next Monday night so guess I'm not planting anything until then. Not sure this corn will last that long.
Very motivated...an inch a day

Corn will survive 31/32 for a couple of hours, no more. Below that, at about 27-28 it’s near instant death.

The growing point of a corn plant stays below ground until vegetative growth stage 5 (V5). Which is when the 5th leaf sets on the whirl. Until that point a corn plant is capable of surviving a freeze but you will take a yield hit. Also at that point make sure the plant is not under any stress (nutrients or water) for maximum yields. At that time the plant sets the ear size. If you ever split a corn plant at v7-v8 you can find the ear and the tassel in the whirl. Staging Corn Growth

32 currently. Snowing. Light accumulations so far. 1-4 inches over night.

Half of birds are gone. Well the crews are finishing up.

"LS, tough to find out for definate that your knee can't mend without intervention. I hope it goes well and that you find some unexpected pleasures to compensate" - Eric

That I have... I'm spending some much needed time w/ the wifey. Real quality time, just talking and being with each other. No hurry and do this or that. We were just starting to implement our our plans for "new beginning", which was downsizing, building a much smaller cottage home, and the start of our "slowdown" to really enjoy life. This situation just threw a monkey wrench into the moving gears. I have always believed "things happen for a reason", I'm just impatient to find out what the reason is.

"Beware of any surgeon that owns his own operating theater, Ted. He won't have the latest and best equipment and will try to use it on you even if it's not the most appropriate because he's in hock up to his eyeballs. Find the best hospital in your area, often they're associated with a university, and see if your doctor will give you a referral to an orthopedic surgeon there. Your injury is pretty common among big time sports athletes, so give some thought to looking out of state for one with a good reputation in so called "sports medicine". Now is not the time to mess around with some backwater bush league doctor."--RNG

OK, your scaring me now--- you pretty much described exactly how this all played out: The surgeon has very good credentials from two of the best med schools , did 2 fellowships, one in trauma, the other in sports medicine. Practiced in Austria for a while at a trauma center. The surgery center specializes only in orthopedic surgery, the surgeons contract specific days to utilize the facilities. The facility is well known, some patients travel 1000's of miles to be treated there. Very up to date.

Thanks for the great advice.

There is a warning on the roll bars about flipping. Only thing I can understand is the "!".

Hmm, I would guess that it says even with a roll bar you can turn it over on un-leved ground and that will cause a danger of the ROPS crushing you because this tractor comes with no seat belts.

A good evening to all! Thanks for all the support guys. Nice day outside, but windy all day. Stayed in w/ the wifey today, she kept doing her "chores", couldn't get her to stop. That's ok, I had fun following her around and pestering her.:D I wonder how long she'll put up with that? Just taking it easy has made the knee feel much better. This taking it easy Might not end up well for the finances though, spent a few hours trying to justify in my mind about getting a bigger tractor....keep telling myself 'not a good time to do so'. Probably won't, but its fun and interesting to compare all the specs.

Andrew-- nice tractor, looks really clean and in great shape! Have fun and be safe!

Jay-- glad to hear that your knee repair worked good, I was very anxious, but sharing your experience has lessened my apprehension.

Ed-- sounds like they are at least making a good attempt at understanding your mom's situation in order to help her. Keep a close eye- remember you are her best advocate.

David--- I am so sorry to hear about your wife's chronic pain. Difficult to deal with- you want to help, but nothing you can do. Makes a level of frustration hard to describe. Hang in there.

Randy-- you stud muffin-( sorry, couldn't resist) -- I'm so glad you have a new found relationship. Great way start a fresh spring.

Prayers out to those needing, extras out for Riptides, Ed, and Eddie. Again thanks for the support.
