We've made some pretty good progress this week. I was able to install most of my lighting this week. Bathrooms are completely finished now other than the plumber ran the drain lines directly under the trash cutouts under the vanities. Going to have to reroute those a bit. The weather here has delayed my metal roof and door install. Hopefully next week on those. Barn doors are trimmed down to the correct size. Now I have to figure out how to slide them given my limited space behind the timbers where they need to slide when open. On the house side we took out the dining room and hired some help to build a new set of stairs for the bridal suite to keep the access out of my back shop area. Here's a pic of the hall as it stands. More pics to come of some of the other work when I have more time.

This week felt like a lost week as far as productivity. My real job got in the way of this one. Our doors were pushed back until next week. Our HVAC installer started running the duct in the attic space and quickly found out that the transition pieces to go up and over the vaulted ceiling were made at 45 degree angles and not 30 degrees they should have been. On a positive note our roof install is almost finished. I'm going to have to paint the existing gutters and part of the roof at some point to match the new roof. Hopefully things will get moving again next week. Going to start working on building the bar area this weekend if I can find time.

This is amazing work!!! We have a small property with an old pole barn and my wife has been a wedding planner for several weddings and would like to do a project like yours on our property. I absolutely will NOT show her any of these photos as I am not the man you are to take this on!!!!!

Did I miss it, what was the solution to the front doors?

They replaced the backwards threshold with a saddle threshold. Because the saddle thresholds were a low profile they had enough room to cut the jams and still have proper clearance for the doors. They will work much better for wheel chair access as well.

I finished framing out the bar today. Ready for metal and scratch coat tomorrow and hopefully start sticking stone on Friday.

Instead of lathe and a scratch coat, have you tried Hardie and Thinset mortar to attach fake rock? I install it just like tile.

We are using real stone veneer so its pretty heavy which is my reason for scratch coat.

Thinking of doing that for a rock veneer on the front of my house. Is this okay? The walls I want to facade are cantilevering out from the foundation about two feet. I have done this for walk in showers but not exterior.

New fittings are in for the HVAC and they are making good progress on it now. 2 bags didn't quite cover the scratch coat for the bar. I ran about 3 feet short. Finish it up tomorrow morning and start sticking stone tomorrow afternoon on what I finished tonight.

If there is no movement on the cantilevered walls, it works great. I forget where, but it was suggested that you double up your house wrap under the Hardie. I use half inch Hardie on the walls, over the house wrap and OSB. Then I seal the Hardie edges with Redgard to make it water proof. Some people paint the entire face of the Hardie, but I like the idea of the thinset going directly onto the Hardie and not a layer of Redgard. But from what I'm reading in some of the home building trade magazines that I get, house wrap and tape is being replaced with specialty water proofing membranes like Redgard and applied to the entire exterior sheeting instead of house wrap. Kind of like what Zip System is, but you apply it yourself. They say you get a better seal this way then anything else out there.

Thinset is stronger and sticks better then brick mortar. It's more money, but not that much more. Ardex is the very best brand of thinset, but the regular grey stuff at Home Depot is still my favorite for most things. Use a half inch by half inch notched trowel and work your way up.
