I'm looking though to buy a Japanese tractor with FEL right now actually, because hand manipulation of hay gets old really quick, and lots of gravel would be nice to deal with paths on our pure clay soil.

Wow, doing a lot of work! Nice tile work, like the floor.

Thanks. The choice of tiles was all up to my wife, and they came out fairly well because of a neat leveling system that pulled every tile even with the other.

Economists, at least those of the Austrian school, would say that a persons preferences are expressed by what he is actually doing, not e.g. opinion surveys. Well, I guess I like living here enough, because we haven't left. :) We've got our own house that we fully own, we work from home, homeschool our kids and a good bit of land-- it isn't such a bad life.

It was too bad what happened here in the late 60s. The then-leader of the Communist government had started implementing reforms undoing some of the things that had been done when Communists took power (for instance, the Greek Catholic Church was made legal again and its clergy released from prison). Some amount of freedom of the press and speech was allowed as well. The hardliners didn't like that, and staged a coup coinciding with the invasion of Warsaw Pact forces while Alexander Dubcek was on an official visit to Moscow. There was a Czech guy at my parish in Atlanta who likewise at that time just got our to tustria or Germany before they closed the borders and eventually to the US. After that point until 1989 the borders were strictly guarded and several hundred people tried trying to get out of Czechoslovakia.

It was 3* when I got up, the low was -6*. Yesterday high was about 18* with light snow showers most of the day. We have a chance of snow later in the day in to the overnight. Still going to be cold and the wind picking up to 20-30 mph. I didn't move any of the snow yesterday, not sure if I'll do it today with the wind blowing.

Kyle... That would be nice to be a snowbird. But I don't see that any time in the near future. My wife would be to far from the grandkids.
RNG had some good points to. Up here I only have to worry about Yellowstone.
If LS comes up here in August I may have to go down and look around.

Hope everyone has a good start to the weekend.
CWB.

Everything that is 'recyclable' goes into the blue bin at the dump. The food waste and cat litter goes into the dump itself for the bears and dump ducks to pick over and the paper and burnable waste gets burned at home unless it is lumber cut offs and they go into the burn pile at the dump.

I have an old wood stove, still in good shape except for the CSA sticker (Insurance wont cover anything not CSA approved), I use it for an incinerator with a double wall chimney that was in questionable shape that I didn't trust in the house. You need to remember that I am completely surrounded by Larch/Tamarack and Pine trees. NO open fires for me. This spring I will buy a new T for the top of the chimney and put 1/2" hardware screen over the open holes to stop the sparks from flying.

Just looking at all those pictures makes me tired. Looks like you've been doing an awful lot of work.

40F with ixed clouds and sunshine with upper air haze starting to thicken as the next weather front rolls in later today/tonight bringing with it its rain, freezing rain, sleet, to snow and back again to rain. The NWS has already issued a Winter Weather Weather Advisory. Then weather calms down until the modeled "Ides of March" weather system arrives.

Wifey is really looking at getting a turbocharged Subaru Forester. They definitely are great Winter weather vehicles. It's her car; her choice. I liked the two Foresters that we had/have.

Today is the "dump run" = run to "transfer station" We've been recycling/composting for +30 years.

Figuring I'd sort of ease into the drone thing, I bought a Roomba robot vacuum cleaner yesterday, one with a camera on it. It'll be on probation until it can prove it won't get stuck under the sofa and can climb up onto the area rugs from the laminate flooring.

We have had a Roomba for several years. Sure saves the old back. Ours goes from solid to carpet with no problems. About one time a month it finds a place that it cannot figure out how to get of. We have lots of places for it to get caught in. Biggest problem, remembering to empty collection canister.
My son has a Roomba and a Samsung Vacuum. He claims the Samsung does a better job. But $$$$$ more.

Good morning all! 30*, going up to high 40's. Wind started last night, still going strong at 25-30, gusts 45-50.... Way to strong, wind chimes are sideways making a lot of noise, getting tangled up. Supposed to calm down late this afternoon.

Went to occupational med yesterday. Doc there couldn't believe that ortho doc didn't order any pain meds or an MRI. He did. Won't release me to light duty until at least March 13th. MRI hopefully by the end of next week. Don't like the idea of being on work comp. I make, as I'm told, "way above the state cap on workman's comp" REALLY? I'll get about 1/2 salary until I can get on light duty. Total BS!
Anyway, the doc did give me some Tylenol w/ codeine to take before bed. Finally had a good nights sleep, until I was awakened by this crazy loud noise...at 04:45......just my phone that has an irritating ringtone specifically for the on duty Operations Commander. She wanted to know where I was... I was late for my shift..:confused2:. Needless to say I was not professional on the phone, not even the least bit cordial!! After getting my senses , I called back to apologize, she was just "filling in" and did not know I had been out due to injury. I still showed up on the computer generated schedule. Either someone didn't enter the info correctly or there was a 'glitch' in the program. :confused2:Just my luck.. finally able to sleep, get awakened early... Well maybe tonight... I'm not doing ANYTHING today except look up tractor stuff on the net! ...:D

Wing: enjoy the day with your pup!

Scott, you need to post pics depicting a time-line of the projects... Would be cool to see.

Toppop: need some pics of your lighting / electric project in the sheds

Ron and Drew: SUPER STARS... In the near future... Now if you can make it to Roy's status... WOW +40K posts. ... I don't know if I could make that many even if they were one word

Ed: Hope you and the family are still on the 'upswing' and getting over the crud!

Jay: glad to hear you're being compliant with the drone budget... I normally have to beg for forgiveness, ...don't ussually ask for permission (at least for r/c stuff... Wifey still has a bad taste...)

Prayers out for those needing them, even for those that don't. Have a great day! Be safe!
