Shopping for a Bat Wing

This is a local auction house that also has a bunch of stuff for sale all of the time. Every now and then I'll stop by and just walk around to see what they have, and compare stuff. It's been really interesting comparing different cab tractors. Layouts are different, and some seem kind of tight, while others seem more comfortable. They just posted a few batwings on their website that I was casually looking at, but not really knowing what's what.

I'm not saying buying used is the best choice, but there are some very low hour mowers out there that might be worthwhile looking at. But even better would be if you could find a place like I have locally to me where you can go look at a few different brands and models next to each other.

Have you considered planting hay or renting out the field to a farmer? 20 acres is a lot of lawn...

I think a 15’ would be a pretty good load on that smaller tractor. It’s not just the pto power but the frame size. These bigger mowers have quite a bit of hitch weight and can toss around a smaller tractor. The bigger one should do fine. You’ll love a batwing. Can knock mowing out much quicker

The 20 acre field is hayed but it is cut only once each year. I usually bush hog it again later in the season to help keep down annuals and make it look better.

I have no intention of ever trying to operate a 15' cutter with the L6060, only the M9960.

One of the significant reasons for considering a 12' cutter is the 6060 could handle it when I downsize.

I wouldn't either. For the very same reasons rustyshakelford stated.

Since your are considering downsizing in the future, I would purchase the 12' cutter now and be done.
