We have Costco here and are members. But we only go there every few months. Sams club chickens are just as good and you do not have to worry about getting run over by disgruntled Costco shoppers. Our Sams club is closer than both Costco’s.
Best day to shop at Costco here is Wednesday 10:30 am.

Rick- Thanks for your reply.

I was surprised that you reported no snow, so I checked on a couple of surface weather maps and saw a map symbol that I have never seen before (or can not remember seeing) down your way:
Dry Line - a boundary separating moist and dry air masses. It typically lies north-south across the central and southern high Plains states during the spring and early summer, where it separates moist air from the Gulf of Mexico (to the east) and dry desert air from the southwestern states (to the west). Moist air mixing with cold can = fog.

while CWB was getting snowed on, I was mowing lawn for the last four hours, kinda. 4 hours of sucking up lawn thatch with the tracvac and man am I filthy. Always a cloud of dust. Emptied four huge loads of thatch, real tinder material, dumped it next to my topsoil pile which I will use to push against and scoop the mess up with the FEL and dump it on the burn pile. That stuff will go off like a bomb.

Before that I put down 500 pounds of fertilizer out in the field and that worked quite nicely, ran out just at the end.
Now for a long shower and then maybe start on a tray of beets to plant. Just had a late lunch, a nap is sounding pretty good.

You are right , I'm sorry, I should have added that when referring to the cause and origin of a fire, spontaneous combustion means it starts from an organic source and has an self-heating or increase in temperature due to exothermic internal reactions.

You did not say spontaneous combustion, just spontaneous, but I jumped on the definition of spontaneous combustion. But we still do not know the exact cause of the fire if accumulated oil from past cooks is ruled out. It's odd that oil has to be looked at in an appliance that is advertised as oil free cooking.

To be honest I just wanted to make you all aware and you can draw your own conclusions. I said I could not verify the circumstances.
But I知 also sorry, I wasn稚 having a good day, or week for that matter and I took it out on you.

We should start a pool on how long it'll be before Drew repaints that tractor. I'll give him two weeks from when the weather's dry and warm enough for the job.

If, in the meantime, Drew, you decide to spruce up the old paint with some 303 or Wipe New, it'll play heck with any new paint you might try to apply later unless you can get it all off. And I mean really off, as in scrubbing hard with a strong solution of Dawn dish soap, sanding it all with 800 wet'n'dry, and scrubbing it again with the Dawn.

Depends on the weather. :D

Well, no tractor, I stopped to have lunch so naturally I started posting! I got there and a guy was there with a trailer loading the scoop, back blade and finish mower. The owner wasn’t there, I said did you buy the tractor, he says, No, just this stuff. So finally the owner ambles out there and says well she’s all ready to go! I said it looks like most of it already went! Then he says, well, you just wanted the tractor. I said no, we had a deal on everything. Then the generous SOB says it’s OK I’m going to take $500 off. I didn’t even answer him, I got in my truck and headed to KENT Narrows to the Cracker Barrel for some catfish before my BP got out of hand. I guess I’m never going to get a tractor.

The last Windows 10 update sure messed the computer up.

That's a fact! Tremendously slowed the computer down. And then a couple of days ago, Adobe Acrobat disappeared from my computer. I found it online and downloaded the "new" version which still doesn't work right. So I've made an appointment to take this computer to the Geek Squad (Best Buy) first thing Monday morning.

We still haven't paid for a Costco membership, but we do shop a lot at Sam's Club and that's where we get our precooked chickens.

Update on the day, there are now 2 face cords of snow covered wood in the basement. Won't have to worry about low humidity in the house for a while, anyways. After the snow melts off it, I'll pile it.

The driveway is scraped down almost to dirt in preparation for the Colorado low headed our way.The tractor is fueled right to the top and the loader greased.

That is 'it' for today, now to putz around on the 'net and watch youtube vids.

Just got back from Costco and $250 poorer and that's no meat or drugs or paper goods or drinks. Come to think of it what did I buy? Oh wait I did buy can tuna for Graytwo he gets a third of a can every morning.
65˚ need to get out and enjoy this cloudy day now that the fog has lifted.

My chainsaw chain starts to slow down during cutting and it starts to smoke. The engine revs stay the same. Has the clutch gone out? Repair or replace?

Used to go up Hone Quarry, Reddish knob, wifes paternal grandmother lived in Dayton,
Village inn was good food.

Wife has lots of relatives between broadway and Hburg. Some are Mennonite. Once sat thru a 2 hr mennonite wedding, in the summer, no AC. Half the people drove their horse and buggy.

Theres the Lincoln homestead on Rt 42 south of broadway, Abrahams grandfather lived there. At one time was a very large parcel of land. There's a Lincoln cemetary at Lacey Spring. Wife is a Lincoln, from brother of Abraham's dad's side.

Her dad helped build a lot of the flood control dams in the mountains, like at hone quarry, switzer, briery branch..

Sometime when I'm down visiting, will have to try to meet for breakfast.

Sounds good, I have often been to most of those places, and know of them all. My wife has a lot of Mennonite relatives and has decided to leave that in the past. Too much ....... Ed

Randy- I too am sorry to read about your "deal." Poor.

Looking4new- That Colorado low (new weather term for me ) going your way looks to become pretty strong. This system will ultimately bring me a mixed precipitation to rain to freezing rain/mixed precipitation event.

It got to ~42F here today. Shoveled some ice/snow at the woodpile. Normal Saturday routine. It sounds like the male chickadees (or at least one) are starting to think about more than just eating and surviving

BEF- That slice of pie looks literally good eats. I can almost smell it. Wifey does not have the patience for pies, but she makes a lot of fruit cobbler's.

I decided to just enjoy the day and hold off on the diesel run to tomorrow and the Sunday newspaper(s). Not that I read the news; I need it for the wood stove.

Replace. Just to look at small engines around here is 20 bucks with at least a two week wait.

Wow. Sorry to hear that. But there must be a reason you did not end up with that one. Keep positive and keep looking.

Toppop, if he talked about each implement and you made a package deal, you were so right to walk on the thief. He got more than 500 bucks i bet from the other guy.
Sorry you went through that. Lots of tractors out there.

Must have washed half a pound of dirt off me after all that yardwork. Beard is coming off soon, acts as a magnet for dust. Besides I have a dermatologist appt late this week and it has to
be off by then so he can check me out. 62 degrees here today, great day to be outside.

RNG, yeah if even a possibility of a paint job for sure no protectant or anything with silicon. Fish eyes forever. I scrubbed and scrubbed near a gas tank opening once with denatured alcohol but it wasn't enough. Should have started off with paint thinner, then alcohol. You worry about softening paint though you don't want to take off.

Got a finger caught in the clamshell apparatus of the tracvac and that did not feel good at all. Then I stood up and cracked my head on the open cover.
That didn't feel good either...but the show went on. Operator error, paying for my sins of positional awareness. Two whacks in one day and I think I earned a glass of wine tonight.

And then I'm going to plant beets. Some basic beets, Oxblood, and some very cool beets, with insides like red and white pinwheels. Some will be planted indoors, rest will be planted with Earthway seeder. It has a beet seed plate.

All the fertilizer that's going down has gone down, at least for now, so I spent a lot of time cleaning out the flinger with the air gun and putting it away clean. Lot of junk blows back up in your face due to design of cone, another reason couldn't wait for a shower. Had fertilizer dust all over me.
Unless I take over more land from my farmer neighbor, which I see as biting off more than I can chew,
any more fertilizer will be for spot/side dress use, hopefully using the gizmo on my 1955 tractor.

Lastly I started out my fertilizer adventure this morning by dumping the first bag in, and watching it come right out the bottom.
Oh no, shut the valve you fool. Which i did promptly...not much spilled. Then I set the stop at number 4 out of 8 and took off at 2000 rpm in low range.
If the stop hadn't fallen down, must not have tightened it enough, course it's vibrating away, where I pumped out granular at the number 7 setting for about ten seconds,
I would have had exactly the right amount at 500 pounds. Or about 250 an acre, maybe a little more in spots. Hadn't had any fertilizer in several years.

Really had the itch to go get the disc and come back but could tell I'd make a big muddy mess and not turn the soil over the way I wanted to, where it gets pretty fluffy.
So I decided to be patient. Maybe Monday. Feb 1 is in ten days and my boss, Mother Nature, is going to be ticked if I'm late in planting those onions.
It will be warming up here nicely in February.

Rip, glad for the good news, expecting much more.
