Sweet tea so sweet your spoon would stand up in it.
Insulin served as a chaser. I just can't drink it...besides my sugar
is now over 100 and we all know that's not good.

Wow what a crazy Microsoft update, took forever, once locked up my machine, inch high letters across the screen twice saying
this will take awhile and btw don't turn it off or your computer will go up in flames...or something horrible.
Fall Creators Update, bunch of marketing stuff re W10 and updated security I'm sure..
Let's see animated 3D models in Powerpoint, nope, not for me. Bunch of other features I won't use.

Had to go use my laptop it took so long to update.
Maybe the North Koreans are hacking us and this wasn't a Microsoft update at all!
Oh dear, my delete button just deleted a building in Seoul.
Must be true...
Did that update last night, took forever.
Pi$$ed me off, it changed some of my default apps, like my photo viewer.

Like my tea unsweetened, never did like the real sweet stuff and I grew up in central Va. Went up into Mane in the early 80's and ordered unsweetened ice tea. They said they did not have any. I asked if they had hot tea, Yes, do you have any ice, Yes, Well put them together in a glass and bring it to me. The waitress came walking over caring it in two hands and set it on the table. Asked if it was ok and then ran over to the counter and made some for herself and the other two waitresses. They had never heard of ice tea before.

In the Harrisonburg area they make vinegar base b-q chicken that is mighty fine stuff. Churches and clubs do it for fund raisers and sell it on the street corner every Sat in the summer. I miss it now that I am on the vegan diet. Feel a lot better though.

:) Ed
Where in Harrisonburg? Never seen it there.

Daugen- I am sorry to read about your wife. I worked in a "nursing environment" most of my professional life...... RN's ruled. And I was really OK with that.

114 is still not too bad (yet). I hope that you can control it w/o resorting to insulin.

As I got more of the shotgunned meds out of my system I went from a brittle diabetic to a boring one. Boring is good. One of my last A1C results was at pre-diabetic levels thanks to the insulin injections. If I really tried with lifestyle and diet changes it is possible that I could stop the insulin injections. I am not ready for that (yet). I have worked beer and martini's into my diet calorie-wise. I almost convinced the diabetes specialists treating me that my body was set up for ethanol.

Buckeye, Go through Bridgewater on a summer morning, 9:30-10:00 an there would often be 2 - 4 groups selling on the street corners, parking lots. 1/2 a chicken for $3.00 last time I got any. Good chicken. Ed

They may have poured gasoline on it and lit for all I know, but my terminology fit just fine, if what you were doing was normal and it caught fire anyway, thatç—´ about as spontaneous as it gets.

No. If no one was cooking with it and it was not plugged in and then it started on fire - even then it would not be spontaneous but closer. If you are doing something with it that it normally is suppose to do (cooking) and it catches on fire - something failed or it was an operator error - that is not spontaneous. In fact if electricity is involved it is not spontaneous - something failed.

Spontaneous fires have to have an oxidizer and a heat buildup. Examples would be a green hay bale or linseed oil soaked rags in an uncovered container.

Things happen spontaneous in life like " the audience erupted in a spontaneous applause", but when you talk in reference to the cause and origin of a fire the definition is very specific.

DABGT- Middletown is ~+2 hours travel time from JaysterAcres. Taino Smokehouse is a consistently ++rated barbecue joint. It's on our "Barbecue Bucket List." My seester lives in W. Hartford; maybe an excuse to connect for a while.

Thanks,
I go thru bridgewater when i leave the in-laws to head south on I81. Get gas at the shell downtown.

Ever go to dayton farmers market?

DABSGT- Knowing that Mark's is OK is decent proof that we are on a similar quest for finer "barbecue" in NE.

Ed- I learned to like that slimy stuff and then Wifey makes it somewhat less slimy in her Cajun "casseroles.". This time of year around here it is only available frozen. I think the fresh okra preps better (I do a lot of prep). Wifey makes a pretty decent gumbo and jambalaya. Gumbo file' is not that easy to get around here.

How does one really cook okra correctly?

Ed, my Wife is from Harrisonburg. My best friend from HS moved there in 1984. Worked at one of the chicken processing plants. He called me and invited me down fathersday weekend.
Saw her at church, and met her at a church picnic after church at hillandale park.
We did a double date that evening, drive in movie. Saw "the natural".
Spent a lot of dates hiking in shenandoah national park.

Got married there in 1987, after she graduated from JMU.

JB, cut fresh okra 1/4" long and roll in corn meal. Fry in a hot pan stir often with a good amount of oil. Fry until brown and some will almost be burnt but not quite. That is the way we made it until I cut out most fats.

Buckeye, Check out the grocery store, Exxon and Hussies parking lots. Those are the most popular places. Sometimes at the shell station over to the side. Lived in H-burg for many years, mowed Hillandale and the other parks for a couple summers when I was in Bible Collage there.

:) Ed

So much to catch up on...
Rip, glad your wife is able to get a bit of walking done. Hope you get some rest soon.

CWB, you are always helping your neighbors. Would you like to move south? :)

Mental health. I've been fortunate, but have known some not so much. Count me in as 1 who wishes the state wouldn't have washed their hands of it. There are too many that should be in one that are walking the streets, often homeless. My FIL and MIL met while working at the state ward way back.

Prayers for RIP and wife, Randy, BEF and all those with ailments.

Eric, I too, saw the storm news after it passed over you and hit Germany.

Might get up to 65ish tomorrow, but also might rain too. Bleh. At least warmer, moist air is not as good conductor of flu virus as cold dry air.

jbrumberg, I will let you know when the Meriden Tiano's opens it will be better seating and easy off and on I91 make the trip easy for you

DABSGT- Please keep me/us posted. My closest place in NY is now closed for the season as well. I really hope they reopen. That means a trip to Holyoke in the near future. I make decent ribs, but barbecued brisket still eludes me at home.

Ed- Thank you. Okra has a unique flavor. It really is good.

Well no bbq tonight. Too lazy. Maybe tomorrow.

Thanks for the kind thoughts Kyle. We are getting more mobile.

Ahhh Bridgewater. Nice italian restaurant downtown there. Favorite spot. That area has grown a lot over the years.

   / Good morning!!!! #68,498
"......... We are getting more mobile."- Riptides

That should be acknowledged. From immobility to something less so. An injection of life each time one makes it outdoors and with each step one by one. I salute you both and all who support this effort. My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers. - J

Had okra done in the convection oven tonight. Not great but good. How much different is an air fryer? Ed

Seems like I tried it once but it did not turn out as good as in the oven baked for about 45 minutes. I use the just okra in the frozen bag, defrost it, it is slimy when defrosted, then I put corn meal, paprika, onion powder, pepper, and salt and some Tony Chachere's spicy seasoning in the bag and shake till all the okra is coated. Then bake till almost crunchy. No fat.

What part of the second paragraph was missing here? Every fire in the world has to have those.
The thing is, it doesn稚 make a tinker痴 d@mn to me, I don稚 have an air fryer, I also said I couldn稚 corroborate it, I was just trying to give those that have one, a heads up of a possible problem. By all means ignore it if you choose.

Qualifier, not mad with you, but frustrated that the point of my post was overlooked due to a disagreement on terminology. It could be a real danger, could be crap, who wants to roll the dice?
