Good morning!!!!

21F and partly cloudy. Looks like we got around 3" to 4" of snow overnight ... very light and fluffy. Currently not snowing, but radar shows snow just off to the west.

Winter weather advisory currently in effect, calling for another 3" to 4" ... weather guys say this will be the second Alberta Clipper and that we are due for another one in another couple of days. I may actually have to clear the driveway ...

I figured out what it would take to panel-wise, for the bypass doors up in the shop last night, two 4 x 8 panels will cover it. Was going to go over to the Depot and pick those up today, but I dunno if that will happen at this point.

Need to clear out some space in the garage down here at the house so I can eventually get The Woman's car in. Also should probably fish that snowblower out of the woods before the snow gets so deep I can't get to it. Only issue with that is that there is a widow-maker on the path I have to traverse to get to it: a 10" diameter dead ash tree that broke off about 10' above ground that's leaning over into some other trees. Kinda scary. Fortunately, it is leaning away from the barn.

I also need to do the mod on the loader spool valve that allows water to drain out ... since every time the temp goes below freezing, the curl circuit (at a minimum) freezes up. I think ronjhall may know something about this.

Also need to get some more wood moved inside the shop, as by the end of the day I'll be out ... not to mention that the wood pile will be even more snow covered by tomorrow morning.

Plus The Woman wants some chili ... so I need to whip that up.

Too bad a lot of that precipitation can’t make its way to CA and douse those fires.

Aren't you in charge of the Pineapple Express any longer, David? We could sure use some more of that nice drizzly rain we had back in November (hint, hint)

I found a low mileage, fairly rare and very nice Kia Borrego V8. Drives nice and should do well in foul weather.

We like our Kias, Randy. My Wife's Sorento is her fourth Kia, and my Soul makes five between the two of us. Never had any major problems with any of them.

I like the Rondo, but they stopped selling it in the US several years ago. Been wondering if I could get one from Canada. Slightly larger than the Soul, and would be perfect for carrying music gear.

It痴 funny how such normally trivial things affect you.

I went through the same thing with my mom's Lexus after she passed, Randy. I drove the car cross country to bring it here, thinking I'd use it as a daily driver. But the memories were too strong, and getting it cleaned up and selling it was, emotionally at least, not trivial. Looking back, it was the right thing to do, but it sure wasn't easy.

Another nice campfire at dusk last night, and after it burned down to embers it was nice to sit next to it and watch for shooting stars. The Geminid meteor shower peaks tonight, but I was still able to catch a half dozen or so streaks and pinpoint flashes in the hour I watched. They came in all different directions, and only one lasted as long as a second, covering about an eighth of the sky. Gemini was just below the horizon at full dark, so tonight if I watch I'll give it a little more time to get higher in the eastern sky and see if the viewing is better. Orion is just a little to the right and above Gemini this time of year, and at least for me, is a lot easier to find, to I tried to watch to the left and below Orion.
Happy Hump Day gang!

Thanks for the directions to Gemini...I'll be out there watching, too.

came in with red cheeks, wind is picking up, downright nippy out there. Put down four bucket loads of dirt along the driveway where it had washed away, and my helper and I worked on that for a while. Even in the cab I never warmed up, though I did have to turn the heat down.
Time to bake some cookies and put on some Christmas carols.
let it snow, let it snow, let it snow
well, not here....

... rs, glad you have plenty of wood to keep your barn warm. It makes all the difference in the world having a nice warm place to work in the winter.
Thanks Kyle ... appreciate the thought.

It makes a huge difference for me, as I don't do all that great in the cold.

I'll bet even the fish would like it.
Plenty warm enough that's for sure ...

Hope that hormones thing with your eldest daughter sorts itself out for the sake of all involved ... including the future husband (... ask me how I know :D)

You gotta micerwave in yer shop, RS? Man, yer livin' high on the hog!
Indeed ... :D

You really can't see it because it's behind the plastic lid of a Plano plastic storage bin, but there's actually a coffee maker on that bench top as well.

Prolly got a beer frige hidden' out there, too, don't cha?:laughing::laughing::laughing:
Yup ... under the other workbench ... like the coffee maker, I've never actually ran it ... other than to turn it on after I got it to make sure it still worked.

All I need is a cot and I'd be golden ... at least according to The Woman ...

I like it so far, the 337 hp V8 is fun!:D

20F and very light, fine snow @ 16:30 ... radar shows we are just at the bottom edge of it.

Earlier it was coming down pretty good but it tapered off to basically nothing an hour or two ago.

Got 5 two-wheelers worth of oak hauled in to defrost, along with 1 of sycamore:

That should probably cover things for 2 - 3 days, depending on how much I'm up there.

Like I was sayin': probably really should tarp that wood pile ...:

Was still 53F in the shop when I got up there and the stove actually felt warm ... even though I couldn't see any coals when I open it up to reload. After I got it reloaded and humming I did a little snow clearing work on the driveway until I got cold enough to head inside and start looking for the insulated Carhardt jeans and rabbit fur cap.

Since the snow tapered off after that I opted to not go back out ... it really wasn't all that bad, in terms of needing cleared ... and I have a feeling that I might be going back out later if the Lake Erie Snow Machine gets cranked back up. The wind is currently out of the south and the Winter Weather Advisory is still in effect ... all that needs to happen is for it to shift around to the north and we'll be getting dumped on.

I do need to go back out and clear off the area in front of the house real quick.

Chili is made - with a little help from Carroll Shelby - and simmering on the stove.

Finally, a recent picture of The Squeak:

She's every bit the little terror that Irv warned she might be ...
