Snowing and blowing here in Howell. Waiting until the afternoon before I start the snowblower. I am at the wife’s shop now, we went out for breakfast this morning, lots of folks off today, all the schools and some private companies are shut also. Supposed to snow all day. 4 to 8 inches. And to think I coulda moved to Florida......

Interesting. When my stove was installed, the 4" fresh air duct just got a grate over the opening on the outside wall. No damper anywhere, electric or otherwise. Dampers in the stove itself control incoming air, and since the combustion chamber is sealed from the house, there's no worry about losing heat up the stove pipe when the stove's not in use. Don, is your stove different, or am I overlooking something on the installation here? After all, I wouldn't wanna miss the next Instant Pot!

The auto damper is not really a damper it is a ON/OFF fresh air intake (rubber) seal. We have the humid air blowing in from the south, my vent is on the south wall. It keeps out the humidity and and tiny insects from entering. The damper on the bottom of the WBS controls the fresh air to the top of the stove where there several pipes that have holes in them. This is a way to produce better combustion and cleaner exhaust of the hot gasses in the top of the WBS - have the O2 enter at the point where it does two things. This also qualifies it for some kind of clean air thingy.

Any way, the ON/OFF electric damper stops the elements and insects from getting to the controlling fire damper at the top of the WBS.

In the Summer the warm moist air will not condensate in the cool air-conditioned WBS.

27° and clear skies this morning, going up to 54° today. The winds subsided a bit last night, but are supposed to kick back up again today. Wife noticed a shingle flapping in the wind on the front of the house yesterday, so I need to fix that before it rains this weekend.

Thanks for sharing that recipe, Rick. Sounds delicious.

Eric, we had new gutters installed all around the house this summer during the remodel, and they included covers. We haven't had any accumulating snow yet this year, but they've worked great so far for leaves and pecans.

Only got down to 24* for the low this morning. It made it up to the low 60's yesterday. Partly cloudy with a 20-40 % chance of snow showers by the afternoon with the high in the 40's.

It was warm enough yesterday to wash the truck and side by side. We still have some snow on the ground but nothing like past years. We got more snow in September and early October then we've gotten in the last two months.

Don't have any plans for today. I'll see what happens.

Hope everyone has a nice day.
CWB.

After Lynn died I sold my Suburban and drove her Ford Edge Limited as my daily, but every time I saw it or got in it or opened the console I saw, smelled or felt her there. So I have it sold, cleaned it out yesterday, that was hard, especially deleting the background pictures off the touch screen display and deleting her phone from the system. It’s funny how such normally trivial things affect you. I found a low mileage, fairly rare and very nice Kia Borrego V8. Drives nice and should do well in foul weather.

Back from doctor appointment. Some serious snow falling. Neighbor text me if he could use tractor to plow snow after it stops this evening. Told him sure. Do a good job on my drive on your way in and out of my drive.

64°F and no rain yet
Geez, some of you guys are getting a big dose of winter tag for all those tractor mounted plows and blowers. Too bad a lot of that precipitation can’t make its way to CA and douse those fires.

Be safe
Have a great day
