The bushhog for sale by you I would offer 450.00 thats a nice hog to get a bargin some times you have to travel ask if he has a way to load it if he agrees on price.

Yeah I may do that, I traveled to get the tractor so I really do not mind driving. I just am strapped for time lately!

The gear is kind of more related to ground speed. You start in what ever get you want not like an auto transmission where you go up in gears. There is less torque to pull a ground engaging implement the faster you go. But if you find the torque is adequate and you can plow at 9mph go for it!!! Haha. Disks do better if your going faster than slower.

You won't be able to bushhog in the fastest gear with anything over a 4ft bh and short grass. But it will beat you to death going wide open.

The L side is so slow I almost never use it, it's good for tilling and close maneuvers but not much more.

Ok so no matter high or low it's all just speed related - whatever the best speed is - got it. I have grown up with trucks, 4-wheelers, etc. with high low. But there is a MUCH larger difference between the high and lows on those, thus the reason for my question. That is what I was getting at. I was thinking the "H" gears were for more for just moving the tractor around and the "L" gears were for working it. Not the case?

Do it! It's oversize but free is free.

There's somebody on here running a 5 ft on a YM186D, 15 pto HP compared to your 17 hp. I'm running the 4 ft I bought for the YM240, on my YM186D. An oversize mower will often force to you to take less than a full cut, maybe only 3 ft wider than the last pass in high grass, but for free, jump on it in an instant. It's not a perfect match but good enough. As an old Carpenter buddy used to say - hey dance with what ya brung! :D

Or a box blade with rippers?? Trying to find something cheap to chew up the ground with and that is possibly multi functional!
