63F few clouds here and there middle 80's for high slight breeze.

Not much plan for today other than gas and diesel run and enjoying tractor pulling event.

Enjoy the day all.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 53° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 86° with lots of sun. Lawn has been mowed. Today will be the true rest day. Going to visit Aunt and Uncle in Port Huron today.
David S, nice job on the kitchen.
Eric, a couple of months? Wife has played that game with me. I have much more restraint than her. But a couple of months! Never for either of us.
Thomas, good luck fishing.
Drew, it never hurts to take a day off and let the body rest.
Good Morning All.

61 right now...high in the upper 70's.

Got one screen door re-screened and installed. I'll get the other (we have two) to the hardware store that does the work. These (Anderson) doors are probably 25 years old. Parts, such as the rollers, are still available. So, refurbishing is a lot cheaper than replacement.

Mowed the front and one side yesterday...I'll finish today. Maybe hit the field too. Doesn't really need it though, so it's not the highest priority

Worked on my little tractor yesterday, bought it to keep my driveway and weeds under control until I find a small front end loader. I can buy compact size everywhere but the SCUT and garden tractor size are scarce and cost as much as a compact. I've owned and sold two, not my smartest move.
More hot humid weather today. Be good or have fun, whichever is appropriate.

About 70 out this AM. No idea what the temp is suppose to be like today. A thunderstorm blew through here last night and today is pick up sticks and find pool floaties day. Yeah, the late night weather people did not get the forecast right. We left most things unsecured last night, and of course, they are all over the pasture now. At least the fence kept the pool chairs in the immediate area.

Think I'll go into the woods in a bit and look at some trees. I can see some dead tops from the pool view and I guess now is about the time for some firewood candidate selections.

Have a great day all. Be safe.

Good Morning!!!! 66F @ 6:15AM. Abundant sunshine. High 94F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Replacing the capacitor revived the clock, but not until I poked around with the minute and hour set buttons did it display anything resembling time. :confused2: Discovering that trick took disassembling and reassembling it a couple of times.

Another hot day, so puttering in the garage this morning, probably another nice siesta this afternoon after lunch.

Have a good 'un...

The low this morning was 45*, yesterday high was 89*. Today is going to be mostly sunny with a chance of showers later.

Didn't do much yesterday, trimmed a few trees so I can see down to the bridge on the river from the deck. The grandkids remember that I have BB guns and a pellet gun. So that was most of the afternoon. The grandson with eye problems can't figure out the open sighs. I don't think he can see the front sight. But he can use a scope, he has shot them before but this was the first he hit the targets. I was surprised how well he did.

Hope everyone has a nice day.
CWB.

Good morning...waiting on coffee.

Eric, how about this? Offer to quarantine the new shotgun for 2 months during the dead of winter if you can get some use of it now?

CWB, I need to get my kids a bb gun. Maybe a red rider, and teach them how to safely use it.

RNG, a pic of the capacitor/clock job perhaps when you have time?

Thomas, a wife that likes to fish, how perfect!

Still so hot. Over 100F yesterday and no rain in sight to speak of. We need some rain here at my house.

We started a compost bin using an old black plastic garbage can. After some reading about the pile needs oxygen, I will dump it out and put it on the ground within reach of a water hose from the house. I will keep the bagger on the mower and use it to add to the pile. It's just that I wanted the stuff to get up to 140-150F in order to kill weed seeds. Trying to figure out how to easily raise the scale of the operation, because I need a lot of compost.

Heading home from dropping both boys at same college. Oldest has apartment this yr, youngest has to be in dorm. House going to be quiet.

Stayed last night at prime eclipse spot, hotel giving out viewing glasses tomorrow. but we are one day off. Signs up along interstate, no stopping to view eclipse.

75.6F and sunny @ 11:15, predicted high today of 86F.

A southwest to northeast line of thunderstorms developed just south of here yesterday ... unfortunately we got nothing to speak of, if anything at all. Forecast is still showing about an 85% or 90% chance of storms on Tuesday. Sure hope it happens.

Got another 5' of bead run yesterday on the soil screen frame ... probably have another 10' to go, which I'll try and get done today and then get started on the SSQA.

get in a comfortable position
I tried.
Pretty sore back and neck at the moment from a lot of bending over though.
Yeah ... me and bending over don't get along well at all.

Generally, I'll try to move lower to whatever I'm working on, or raise it ... both to avoid bending. Most of my welding is done with my butt planted on something.

I've found that just raking all day, leaves me with a sore neck ... might have see about getting one of those neck braces.

Some times i could sit, that was good, until my leg got burned by sparks.
Now I should just think like I'm a computer guided laser, always even, always consistent.
And next time I should wear jeans.
Yup ... I personally don't do much welding in shorts ... plenty enough problems getting burned even when I am covered.

I have done a good bit in short-sleeved tee shirts though, but I'm starting to try and even avoid that.

New and old capacitors, old one on top:

I sourced the capacitor from Studio Sound Electronics. PJ would get a kick out of that site; they seem to cater to folks repairing electric guitars and amps...

72°F and .01 inches rain.

Gonna make breakfast for wife, then it's looking like some tractor time.

Thanks for all the nice comments. I'm pleased that the work kinda matches the existing and not stick out like an after thought.

Be safe
Have a great day.

did not follow Ron's advice, went out and trimmed all the bushes around the house for two hours, plus some woodlines where I was pretty sure there were no bees,
cleaned up that mess, heat index 103 and after two sports drinks,
time to come in. Bright sunshine today.

Had to hack two big bushes pretty severely because they had grown out under the overhead power lines back to the barn. The utility company was going to cut them down and I pleaded that I would keep them trimmed. Ahem. Little late on that but here's a better late than never special. Had to use loppers and the bushes are pretty ugly now, but the lines won't fall into the bushes and cause flaming infernos to endanger the neighborhood and emergency workers. I said I would trim them and finally they got trimmed. Hopefully they will live and look better sometime soon. And I no longer feel guilty that job wasn't done. Spent enough time doing fire police work watching downed wires light up bushes and trees to fully understand utility's concern.
Probably a job I should have done in February.

But you get to them when you get to them.

Sounds like time for a cool glass of tea with lemon and mint.

Got home from church. I'm cooking a large roast in the pressure cooker. Old school, on top of the stove cooker. And a side of rice. Not sure what else to put with it. Maybe some green beans or lima beans.

Dry run for the eclipse tomorrow. I'm not in the totality zone, but should be interesting to see what the camera captures nonetheless.

I think they show a dead short if bad but let RNG confirm this.

93 degrees out, trying to find a movie to watch this afternoon. So much of Amazon Prime are tv shows, and I no longer have Netflix.
And YouTube seems to be an endless source of videos on just about everything.
I enjoy the train ride videos in overseas countries; glad I'm not on some of the trains
When an EMD powered train goes by with a good microphone recording, I can hear the room
rumble from the subwoofer. 900 rpm makes for power strokes you can feel

Worked on my little tractor yesterday,

Randy, what did you get? sorry if you already said

It's just a little Cub Cadet 1864, I just had to have something to work my driveway and spray weeds and such. It's a $650 tractor, a stop gap, I'm still looking for the garden tractor front end loader.
