Hello All,
Have been lurking on this site for a while as I pondered a purchase (vs renting all the time) , thanks for all the great information.

Hope for input experience on the following. Found a Kioti DK45 SE, full cab 2013/14 with 500hrs, KL401 FEL and KL2475 BH for $21,000 includes delivery. No warranty left on tractor so as is. I test drove it and everything functions as expected. Its a shuttle shift with clutch, Im used to manual cars and if the price is good Im prepared to overlook the fact I'd prefer HST. Work is brush hogging, stump removal, rock and boulder relocation, trenching, pallet work and post hole boring. Moving gravel etc

I have a Kioti, Deere and Kubota dealer all close by but starting prices for new are 30k + for less machine

Looking to buy, and sadly, likely sell in a few years once tasks are exhausted

My questions are -
-Is it a good price for this machine?
-Will I regret the clutch over HST (or will finally having my own tractor overshadow the clutch) Saw the recent July thread on this topic, people seemed to say go HST but for me it means waiting for one to appear in the used market within my price bracket.
-On a side note there is a 2006 Kubota l3400 HST, 1000 hrs with FEL and BH for $16000 plus tax.. should i consider this?

Have been searching for a while and went through the spectrum of considerations - an old farm tractor, dealer vs used, new vs used.. Now Im ready to dig!

Thanks in advance for any insight!

Sounds like a good price to me. As far as the Kioti and the Kubota that you are looking at, apples and oranges. The only 2 things that they have in common is the orange color and that they are both tractors.

If you are decent with a clutch, don't give the shuttle a second thought. All will be good.

My thoughts on the L3400.. I used to own one, I traded it for the Kioti I have now. No backhoe on either. The L3400hst is a good tractor, but it is a bare bones "standard" tractor. Nothing extra. The Kioti weighs a lot more and will do a lot more and will do it with many labor saving features and accessories. Also, the 3pt hitch on an L3400 is jerky when trying to make small incremental changes in height in the up direction. This is what kubota calls a "standard" 3pt valve. Sure they make higher priced tractors with smooth 3pt's but at a higher cost. Everything about a L3400 is "standard". I kept mine for a while and did a lot of work with it. It is a well made tractor, but it is a bit light for size and has absolutely nothing "extra".. No telescoping lower links, no telescoping stabilizers, no smooth hitch, will not come with SSQA standard, but it is available at extra costs and no remotes but they can be added . The Kioti you mentioned is a "deluxe" tractor with many features and accessories.

As for clutch vs hydro.. well you have seen the "wars" fought over that one.. I prefere hydro. I am done with the clutch. But many others feel differently. If you are not going to keep the tractor, perhaps you should give the "bota a good hard look. Several thousand less money, and it will still have pretty good resale value. And it will be a hydro, and easier to operate in that manner. You will have to get used to the treadle pedal, instead of the two pedal system but that was not a big deal to me. It is for some.. but I can get along fine with either.

Bottom line, That Kioti with cab and backhoe is a very attractive price. hmm think of of that cold air... Of course the weight and power is greater too and the tractor will do a lot more work in a given time. But the Kubota ain't bad, Just stripped down and lite for size. Its your money.

What James said, +100 on the weight, moving boulders or anything with the FEL is going to be easier, faster, and safer with the DK. Make sure you always have ballast on the 3PH as well.

You can get new DK4510HS with KL4010 and KB2475 for around 29k.

With the new machine, you get warranty, less repairs and downtime, and easier to sell in few years.

Thanks Brian, James, Msamt

James really appreciate the detail of your reply.. Gave me lots to ponder!

trctorfan17 - Where are you seeing a price of 29K? My local dealer is quoting 4k more than that

Thanks for your help!

I just checked price with multiple dealers, highest delivered was under 30k.

I am deciding between this model and NX4510HST
