Good morning!!!!

Good morning. I was hoping for another cool dull day and so far that is exactly what the weather has on offer, although a sprinkling of CWB's white stuff would perhaps be taking it too far. Reason for this is that I have finally got around to lowering the ground level next to the last part of the house to be "finished" and it is one of those jobs that would have been better to do in cold weather, all pickaxe and shovel work. A farmer in the 60's raised the level, then concreted it over. The concrete came out a while back, now it's time to dig out close to the walls the typical junk "farm rubble" sub base below it. I only need to go down a few inches but it is proving hard going.

Hope you all have an enjoyable day ahead of you too :)

Eric doing something similar but using back hoe with hammer. When it works hammer that is makes short work of concrete

Drinking first cup of coffee. 65° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 88° with chance of thunderstorms in afternoon. Lean too on animal barn needs repair. May not get much done today but make a list and purchase material.
Don, now you know why I come by your place when it's cooler outside. :)
Good Morning All.

Bit late today...not sure if my alarm didn't go off, or I shut it off and went immediately back to sleep.

Anyway...at work now. It's in the mid-60's in Claremont NH (where I work, since that's where I am now). The high is supposed to be a bit cooler, but the forecast is calling for the upper 80's.

69 going to 93 and sunny.

Hit 94 yesterday, so I waited until 5pm to use my new backpack sprayer and go hunting poison ivy. Took about 2 hours to finish off 3 gallons by spot spraying along about a mile hike. I think I am winning the battle...I have to hunt harder each year. Was pleased with the cheap sprayer from HF...sure beat the metal tank with one thin nylon unpadded shoulder strap I had been using for the last 30 years. I was soaked with sweat by the time I finished, so sure could have used some of that Wyoming snow.

Don glad your bruise didn't hurt...I did the same thing last month pulling the cord on my string trimmer, getting a huge bruise on the inside of my forearm. Been using this trimmer at least 10 years and never had recoil like that...first thing I did was take a pic and text it to my wife, because it didn't hurt, either, but looked bad.

Buppies, not a good time to lose A/C upstairs...hope it can be fixed.

Well, it is election day here today...primaries for the November governor and other statewide offices, so I'll go vote this morning. In Virginia, you don't register by party...so in primaries, when you show up, they ask which party ballot you want. I'll probably write in Roy's name.

RS, congrats on the concealed carry.

Drew, how long before we get some fresh apple pie pix?

Good morning! 75˚ before sunrise, cloudy. Time to put up the sails, put out the net and air up the balls. No, not fishing it the beginning of water volleyball season. Ron would not enjoy it, the water, at 88˚ is 8˚ above his maximum sustainable temperature.

I bought new lights for the deck cover and they work quiet well. They are on sell at Costco this month for $29.99 and they have the TBN seal of approval. Feit Outdoor Weatherproof String Light Set, Black, 48 ft, 24 Light Sockets, Includes 36 Bulbs

My Mom LOVES her new clock (I got her one like I'm giving dad). She said that is the perfect clock for "old" people. I'm beginning to think I need that clock also. Being retired all the days run together and I find myself checking my iPhone for the date. It also gets you orientated quickly after that afternoon nap.
for those that missed it - this is retired/old people's clock: Amazon.com: [Newest Version] Day Clock - Extra Large Impaired Vision Digital Clock with Battery Backup & 5 Alarm Options: Home & Kitchen It's an excellent retirement gift.

Our speed queens washer and dryer work very well

I thought that I was getting the last of the non HE washers but there is a selection on the control knob for ECONO (or HE) washing which uses cold water with the hot water, does not fill as far up with water and does a spray rinse instead of a real rinse. I just told my mom not to use that selection just stick with the NORMAL wash selection.

Drew, how long before we get some fresh apple pie pix?

I think I counted 20 apples last evening while I was spraying the orchard.
Out of those I'll probably get ten, critters will get the rest.
Maybe next year.....

But I will get some figs, which I have no idea what to do with.
