Getting that thing broke down might be a real treat. If possible I'd take it to a tire store. I've used stabilizers on a bucket truck to break down tires. Assuming you don't have any other equipment I'd be tempted to put it back on the tractor and run it flat until the bead breaks.

That is a great idea for breaking the bead but I have now found a replacement - just $425 for a tyre with 35% tread (plus the cost of a new inner tube) and just a 3 hour drive away. The seller will deliver it to a tyre fitter who will change it for me. The old one is already in my trailer ready to go.
