55 going to low seventies, cool overcast day.
errands this morning, then stuck here all afternoon and evening enduring the miseries of GI prep.
Black coffee and jello for breakfast. Yum.................

Almost every day in the next week shows good possibility of Spring showers. The fescue I planted in the nut orchard is growing about an inch a day, the day after I mow it looks tall. No fertilizer either. Happy to report that every one of my fifty hybrid willow trees has sprouted little bright green leaves all over. Everything gets watered pretty heavily at least once a week regardless of the rains. I did most of the watering yesterday, went through 100 gallons. Another 50 gallons today and I'll be done. Battery for pump on charge overnight, that tired old tractor battery is really working hard. I think the desulphate function of the smart battery charger has given it some new life. 750cca, replaced it with a 900cca.

I've been brainstorming on how to redesign my water wagon with what I have on hand. Turning on the pump with alligator clips on a battery is lame, though effective. My intentions are to take the much more powerful 7gpm variable speed water pump I bought for my motorhome and never installed, and use that for the water wagon instead of the small 12VDC pump I have now that runs constantly and thus runs the battery down. The new pump will only run as fast as the demand, so once I let off on the nozzle trigger, the pump will fully stop. I need to get that pump, plus a waterproof on off switch, and mount all this on a piece of plywood cut to fit in the little green JD cart. This water cart has made my life so much easier already, and I'm likely to need it for a number of years. So makes sense to do it right.
Another project....job security for sure.

Drew, I have a 25 gallon sprayer with 12 volt pump that I put in the bed of our Polaris Ranger. I bought the below 12 volt switch and remote control to turn the pump on/off. It really works well and will handle 20 amp load.

Hate those new gas cans.... Went to fill my mower, pull back on the spout, and sprayed gas all over myself. Ended up removing the spout and pouring it.

I've been lucky enough to use old plastic gas cans and never had to buy one with the new spout. When the spout on mine finally cracked, I bought one of these a couple of years ago and it has been working great:

Wngsprd, I wish easterly winds were a little more rare here in the spring. Makes got fool damp days, when 50 miles west they enjoy beautiful spring weather.
Cool and cloudy today, back to the 80's tomorrow.
Got my grass mowed yesterday.

I have three of these No Spill cans. The 1 and 2 gallon sizes work great, and like the name sez, I never spill a drop using them. But a 5 gallon "can" (they're made of plastic, which in my book is not a good idea) is way too heavy to lift one handed, and you have to have one hand on top to work the button. So I put one of these Hi Flow spouts on each of my old 5 gallon cans and the No Spill sits in the corner, largely unused. The No Spill goes to the gas station for filling, then I use it to fill the 1 and 2 gallon No Spills, or one of the Ez Pours if it's a big job and I'm using a lot of fuel. He!! of a way to run a railroad, but that's what happens when we let the gummint protect us from ourselves.:pullinghair:

59°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 86° today.

Buckeyefarmer, my Wife had her first experience this past weekend with those new cans when she tried to fill the Husqy rider. Sprayed gasoline all over the thing because the can had pressurized as it warmed. She wanted to know who thought that was a good idea. She also asked, after finding that the old style are no longer available, how we can modify the new ones to actually work. Looking at a few options there ...
I carefully remove the spout and either siphon or use a funnel.

What time are you all seeing the day finally switch over from color to black and white ?

Official sunset here tonight will be 7:48PM, but it stays light enough to work outside until nearly 9. I'd rather have the light earlier in the day, the main reason I wish we'd stay on Standard Time all year round and get rid of DST alltogether.
