Current temp here is SLC is 64. Storm is moving in today with rain expected tomorrow. I have no choice but to mow the lawn for the second time this year tonight.:thumbdown: My lawn still has some winter kill, but is recovering more every week. Pastures are looking good but it's time for some rain so I'm glad it's in the forecast.

Poured first cup of coffee. 57° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 83° with mostly clear skies. Lost 1 hour of time yesterday. Changing from AZ no DST Mountain. Always messes with my internal clock. 2 more hours change before we get home. No plans for today. Rest day.
Eric, it's not summer in the USA until around June 20th. But any Snowbird that stays that long in SW will be cooked. Most of the Snowbirds left Phoenix area around April 1. Too early for me.
The Phoenix area gets over 300k Snowbirds every winter.

Last year I had swallows trying to build nests under the eves on the front porch. Thought about letting them go ahead, but just getting started left a mess on the wall and floor, so a garden hose made life difficult enough for them that they moved on to greener pastures.:laughing: Hopefully don't have to fight that battle again this year.

Just started my annual battle with barn swallows trying to build nests on our porches. I've had pretty good luck spraying down locations, they try to build on, with Clorox Cleaner. The residual smell seems to last long enough to make them give up on that particular spot.

Hmm, we have a lot. But I have "managed" them by keeping their old nests in particular spots. They seem to re-use them, the next generation though is always in build mode.

They do offer insect control which is why I like them around.

55°F and drizzly this morning, going up to 72° today. Rain seems to be of the hit-or-miss variety.

Got a bunch of "mopping up" jobs done over the weekend; things with small lingering details that just needed to be finished. Wife did some mowing Saturday, and passed it off to me near the end when her back started bothering her. She mowed it all herself for the 13 years before I arrived. Now, she's out of being-jostled-around shape since I've been doing it the last few years. She said she misses it, though, and kind of enjoyed it. Not going to complain about that.

She cooked a nice meal Sunday. Neither of us are fans of ham, so she put a couple of nice rump roasts in the rotisserie, made some cheesy potatoes, glazed carrots, and green beans. It was delicious. She also baked a 2-layer cake. It was also delicious. Then, we just relaxed the rest of the afternoon watching movies; The Passion of The Christ, Exodus, and The DaVinci Code. (I was starting to detect a theme ... )

Tired this morning, raining now. Oldest daughter called Friday and wanted us to drive over and see a new baby (they are foster parents and got a new, few days old baby to foster). It was last minute and we decided to go, drove over Saturday morning and since we arrived around 11 when they had a doctor appt, we killed some time by going to the Kubota dealer. Got the filters I need for the service due and some odds and ends. They needed the help to get things done Saturday and especially Sunday morning as both daughter and SIL were performing at church..

Mom said thanks for the birthday wishes! That's mom in front, taken a couple of years ago, she's not that spry anymore.

A late good morning! Cloudy 70˚. Lot of running around for mom this week. This week will be especially stressful for her. Still trying to focus on mid May hip surgery.
