An update on the day. T-storms didn't happen, but it did rain gently all day. I am presently exercising my gen-set. The insulation job I did on the walls facing the house worked out good.....I can hardly hear it.
Have a good night all.

Woke up too early for a Sunday! Hope everyone has a wonderful Easter!

47 right...nice night! High in the mid-70's and a pretty good chance of a thunderstorm.

I had a chance to get down to the field and try out the Kahr CW9. I only had about 20 rounds of 9mm hardball though....well, I have about 5 or 6 hundred rounds, but that's all steel cased. Kahr doesn't recommend steel cased ammo, but Glocks digest it easily. So, ordered 500 rounds of Sellier & Bellot brass cased ammo. Always liked Sellier & Bellot, just got a great deal (when I bought it) on the Wolf steel cased (hot ammo, but really dirty)
Anyway, I digress...
The Kahr shot quite nicely for the 3 mags I put through it. No FTF or FTE at all. Kahr recommends 200-300 rounds through the gun prior to carry. I'll use Sellier & Bellot ammo for break-in, then see how it digests Hornady Critical Defense. I do think this is going to be a great carry pistol!

After trying out the Kahr, I vacuumed out the Tacoma and installed the rear Weathergard mats (fronts were already in there), then gave the truck a bath.

That was about it for yesterday...

Today...although it's not necessary right now, probably remove the snow blower from the tractor and rig the finish mower. We'll see...

Plenty of sunshine this morning, enough to get me to put on dark sunglasses for my early morning rounds. Proved far too effective - scared sun away .

Thank you everyone for your very kind words about the lost lambs. I felt a little sorry for the dog too. It was probably having the best day of it's life before I shot it, yet it could have lived on into old age if only it's owners had been more careful. Fortunately it had been chipped, the police have had words with the owner and it would seem they are keen to compensate and avoid prosecution. Dog attacks are on the increase, the front page of our farming paper this week tells of an initiative to teach children about livestock worrying in an attempt to make future generations more responsible pet owners.

Thanks Kyle, I was hoping farmer2009 had been able to take the family on a long and well deserved holiday.

Hope you had it on a lead.

63 going up to 84 on a beautiful Easter Sunday.
Eric, if the owners of the dog who killed your sheep has homeowners insurance, that will cover the cost of your sheep for them. And that gen had better have two leads...;)

I think I might do a little weeding this morning while I contemplate the meaning of today. I don't have any plans for today so might work in the barn this afternoon. I really don't like to run machinery on a religious holiday but my views seem to be in the minority, which is ok. Tractor rides for grandchildren are always excepted....

Hi all. Off the Texas today to teach a class for the week so spent yesterday putting all my toys(implements) away. I have to get another shop or shed built. This takes two hours every time.
Little brush hogging done, and then back to wash the tractor and brush hog off before putting it away.
Tryed my new Dewalt 20v grease gun out servicing the tractor before I parked it away. Man, that thing is slick after an initial fumbling around with getting it to prime.
About a 7-8 hour drive and then some studying of the class materials is all I have planned today.
Happy Easter to everyone.
Lenny

66 going too high to 87. Happy Easter!

Lenny, great "love" story of the money diverted to the engagement/wedding rings.

Discovered a large stand of wild azaleas in bloom back in the woods yesterday. Quite a pleasure for me, and surprised I hadn't seen this one before. Saw a baby snake in the creek as I walked over the bridge, but can't identify it yet.

Lenny, remind us, what are you teaching?

grease gun priming....always good when the grease comes out. I started my greasing career more than fifty years ago filling manual grease guns with a giant spoon out of a 50 pound tub of grease. We've come a long way baby...
that grease gun was on sale at TSC, though same price in Amazon. I was really tempted but my compressor powered one seems to work ok. It's just you get grease on your hose line, and in my case, it's yellow, so my messes are very visible. Good actually so one cleans it off before letting it wind back into the case and glomming up the neighbors. I don't have any Dewalt battery pacs, have been a Sears and Makita cordless guy, so getting yet another battery charger was a mental barrier.

Someone is going to invent a universal charger where we can just drop all these battery pacs on a flat pad and they will charge "smartly". I've seen the price of some of these new 80V batteries reach almost 200 dollars.
My Makita batteries are now 4A rated with 5's already out. But still 18V. Current trend seems to be higher voltage with benefits that come with it.
