I was just watching "Leave it to Beaver" and the Beev was shining his shoes. Do kids do that any more?

So Carol, will you be offering words of wisdom each morning now?

Do kids wear shoes that require shining?
Most wear sneakers now...

Sharing a quote with you
" Good thoughts precede great deeds. Great deeds precede success. Have a great day."

welcome

This morning when I got up the sun was shining and the sky was blue. My great deeds weren't all that great, but I did plant a dozen roses. Feeling rather successful!

Cloudy, windy and generally dreary here. Around 50°. Hoping we lose some of the clouds and wind for tomorrow.

CE air fryer arrived today and we checked it out with fresh cut potatoes. We used no oil. They turned out great in 15 minutes. I should be harvesting my potatoes in about 3 weeks. IMG_0408.JPG

Well, I took my wife out for our anniversary, my potato was baked, with a side of prime rib.

Went to the old south mountain inn. Built in 1730s, it sits on the old national road. Was a tavern for years. Lots of famous people have stayed here. Appalachian trail runs through the parking lot. The first Washington monument is located just north of here. The section of AT from here to the monument is the only section I have not hiked in MD.
Was a private residence for Admiral dahlgren, who's widow built the Dahlgren chapel across the road.

Here is a "branch" that came down yesterday.

Silver Maples are not the type of tree to have around your house, especially when they get old. We have been "maintaining" them for over ten years, but when they do drop they cause a lot of work.

When I was out with the chainsaw, my wife noted the birds on the barn. I don't like to work with chainsaws, the one I got has turned out to be finicky these last few months. And usually when the work is required, it is in areas like the picture that are just difficult to work in.

Anyway, the birds did not get a free meal, yesterday. LOL.

Dude. If a couple of buzzards showed up to watch me work, I'd go inside. Quickly. And I am not superstitious. It just freak me out.
