I recently made a couple of handcrafted flags from some reclaimed oak from an old post and beam barn.

How'd you do the stars?

Overlaid a printed star pattern from the computer to strike the outlines with a hammer and wood chisel. Then finished with the wood chisel and hammer to carve them out.

Very creative. What kind of finish did you apply and are these intended for indoor use only or outdoors as well?
Do you have a photo from a little further back?

I only have a couple of other photos at the moment. First one is 60" wide and I made for outdoors above our fireplace mantel. The second photo is 42" wide that I made for a friend. His is going inside. Both were finished with a clear semi-gloss helmsman outdoor spar urethane. I put a couple of extra coats on mine since it was going outdoors. It's hard to tell in the pictures but one thing I also did was alternate the thickness of the stripes from 3/4" to 1". In person it adds a lot of dimension to the flag. And thanks for the complements. I've been envious of the work on this thread for some time. This is the first thing I've made worthy of contribution.

Thanks Eddy. I wish you were closer to us. I'd love to pay you to build a gazebo for us similar to yours.

Thank you. Here is the first one that I started six years ago, give or take a year or two. I took this picture this morning of the baby goats and Oscar. This one is an octogon with my posts on 8 foot centers. It's the one I experimented on before building my Wedding Gazebo that is 16 feet wide so you can have the entire wedding party in the picture. I also figured out that the fancier the roof on a gazebo, the nicer it looks. This roof is pretty simple compared to the Wedding Gazebo. I have tow more railings to weld up on this one, and then the ceiling, lighting and floor to do. I just haven't make it a priority to finish it.
