35 this morning and headed to 47 today. Currently only about 40.

Getting ready to sort cattle for tomorrow's sale. Bull and a couple old cows leaving.

and for something on the opposite end of the scale of appetizing, here is the front "walkway" of my farmer neighbor.
He lives in the singlewide about forty feet ahead, and sadly, in front of the nose of the wrecker and in the not so far distance is the end to my home.
Not only has the nut orchard gone in between us now, but I have 25 hybrid willows coming in shortly to make a screen to totally block this view from either of
my porches. Approx 50 feral cats roam around these weeds, thankfully none come my way. No wonder there are no mice in the neighborhood.
He throws a bag of cat kibble all over the ground under the shed, and one has to walk through it to get to his home. Sigh.

My next door neighbor, the fireman, said only two things would cure this. Time and a D8.

One of the few times it's OK to be flakey in life, and it looks like you've succeeded admirably. Well done, Drew!:licking:

Did he ever take care of the property, or has he always been like that? Probably shouldn't say anything, Drew, but I'd have a lot of anxiety lending anything like a tractor to such a person. If he holds his own house in such low regard, he'll treat a tractor the same way.:2cents:

Good morning.

Lenny, you may be hoping you had a lucky escape, but deep down, you just know your wife will remember that bruise, however long you can make the Texas job last. .

True. I navigate in the dark a lot without lights a lot. I usually park the tractor with box blade in the shop at night and when I added the receiver hitch on the back of my box blade it only took me a few times to remember the thing was there.
One of those involved laying on the shop floor in the dark with tears!

Drew, save a bite for me. That looks and sounds so good. I'm a bit frustrated I live so far away. LOL

He needs an old washing machine to round out his collection. Drew, you might check on red tip photinias (sp?) for a nice view blocker, but they might take a few years more to grow. A 9' privacy fence is faster.

I try to remember to remove my ball hitch from the receiver. It tends to hurt more the 2nd time you hit it.

I have to admit, I outdid myself Friday for my international guests. A married couple both with their Ph.d's came over for a day of food and letting the dogs run.

We BBQ'd fillets over coals with pecan wood, medium to medium well. Asparagus, garlic mushrooms cooked down with a bit of butter, and huge baked potatoes with all the fixings.

Then came dessert.

I have this old mason jar I had to use to put some cognac into, because the cork had broken off. It was high dollar cognac and still smelled soooo good, I couldn't find the courage to throw it out, so I put it in a marked mason jar. Looks like a big glass of tea. So I had an idea to try and use some of it. Anyway, I hadn't had any flambe fruit in like, forevah, (early '80's at a big steakhouse in Houston), so I started looking into some recipes. I found this one with raspberries, blueberries, and peaches. Well, the cognac did not ignite as mush as I'd hoped it would, but we were outdoors and it was hard to see the flames but they were there. We scooped the flambe onto some Blue Bell Natural vanilla bean ice cream and ooolala, was it ever delicious if I type so myself. Everyone had at least 2nd's and some had 3rds. I should have peeled the peaches, they are out of season, and these were imported from Chile and had kind of tougher than normal skins, but were still very good.

here was the recipe I loosely used.

The food is looking yummy. Sour cherry pie is my favorite.

Got 4 cans of diesel for the tractor. Hope we don't get that much snow. Saw one chart saying 12 to 20" for us. We have had no snow days this year, yet.

Pretty productive day. Tackled the last part of my solar upgrade - relocate the combiner boxes from on the roof to under it. So right now all my panels are disconnected. Cleaned up and partially painted the rusted areas of the combiner. Tomorrow I will determine the proper layout and reinstall. I left the new PV cables long enough for this relocation, but will have to extend the cables of the 8 strings of the old panels, not sure how I will do that yet, a couple of options. Should be exciting.
I was able to fully charge my batteries before disconnecting the charge controllers. Will be interesting if I can get enough reinstalled tomorrow to avoid having to use the generator. I planned to use the generator 1 or 2 days as a stop gap, but an interesting challenge to see if I can avoid completely. :)

Good morning. Clear skies all last night, with the full moon almost outshining the lights of the temporary railroad construction compound. The workers there did a really good job in keeping the nighttime noise down to a minimum over the weekend.

After debating the merits of having a slightly long drawbar for over two years now, I finally plucked up the courage to remove a couple of inches of it yesterday. That may turn out to be foolish, but at least is wasn't impetuous. :)

It is just on freezing here this morning, with glorious sunshine and not even the most pessimistic forecast quoting more than 0% chance of anything wet falling from the sky. Good luck to all of you getting a visit from Stella.

Drew, Kyle. :licking: Your food descriptions and pics are making me hungry, maybe I will skip bran flakes today and see if anything tasty is left in the fridge for breakfast.

About 25 out this AM. Nice full moon over the pastures. Looks like the storm is approaching so today is diesel, gas and generator day.

Hope all have a good day, and fair well with this nor easter that is upon us.

the moon last night really was marvelous to see, huge and "right up there"....

rain starting this afternoon and continuing into tomorrow. Warmer but only for a day, then the bottom drops out, and I'm afraid my orchard blossoms will be dropping too...24 and 25 degree lows Wed and Thurs morning.

Minor milestone day for me, 67th birthday. But one is only as old as one feels and you might imagine some days how old I feel...;) Frankly I'm happy I made it this far. Every day is an adventure, every day is an opportunity for kindness, and life is good.

The pie was yummy...not goopy, the two teaspoons of tapioca seemed to firm things up inside. I can taste the nutmeg a little too much, but otherwise this pie did fine. And since pie only lasts at best two days, well guess what I'm having with my coffee this morning? Too bad pie is so fattening, but at least with sour cherries, lots of vitamin C and good antioxidants. The sour cherry juice I poured off is supposed to be super healthy, puckery but good without any sugar added.

Drew, Happy Birthday! I love to hear your tales of random acts of kindness....(and that pie still looks good). If I lived nearer, I'd bring over some ice cream.

Have a blessed day All!

Very happy Birthday Drew! Well deserved delicious looking pie.

Would be hard to choose between the pie and the flambe.
