John deere 2440 filters and maintenance

Thistle seed would appear organic .........I hope all the fiber material has not been dissolved away and is not allowing metal to metal contact, particularly on the wheel brakes.
There is "brand x" hydraulic 303 type oil from Bubba's discount store .....Then there is Hy-Gard from the John Deere dealer. I would assume that most others would agree that draining, flushing , gaining and refilling with Hy-Gard could slow down the deterioration of the wet brake and wet clutch material if no metal to metal contact has been made ?
iirc type 303 oil was dropped and the superior spec Hy-Gard was required with the 30 and later series equipment ?

Without major tear down is there any way to check for metal to metal wear?

Resembles rear brake material to me. How much material was on screen? If it was my tractor I'd install a magnet in bottom of trans/diff housing.

It was pretty full. Most of it fell in the bucket when I pulled it out so was unable to see exactly.

Really starting to hope I didn't buy a turd here.

Finding only organic material now without the time and expense of metal to metal contact , is worth going out and having a beer to celibrate your good fortune .

Little update on the PTO issues. When hooked up I am unable to throw the side lever without grinding. Once in i can use the top one to engage.

Not supposed to be fiddling around with the pto lever on the side of the transmission case , always wondered why they even put the lever on there with hydraulic pto clutch models . Instead only use and enjoy the connivence of the independent hydraulic pto clutch located between the transmission gear shifters.
