I'm currently preparing for my tractor's 50hr service and was surprised at how little is listed to be done for this service. Only the following items are called out:

1. Change front axle oil
2. Change transmission filter
3. Check engine ignition system
4. Grease
5. Check wheel bolts

Axle oil can be hydraulic fluid, yes? (I think the service manual mentions that Kioti ships this way.)

I don't remember for sure but I thought I had to change the motor oil at 50 hours.
As DK35 did, I used gear oil in my front end.

Also change oil and filter.
And I personally would check all the bolts you can get at. Especially the wheel and loader mount bolts
My front axle takes time for the oil to settle in when filling. Needed checked and added to several times after it was run for a bit to get to level out at the full mark

The service manual shows oil and oil filter changes for tier 3 engines, but for the tier 4 engines they don't.

Yes engine oil and filter change also.

Drive your tractor up on 4x4 blocks to get some extra space on the underside. Even though it doesn't recommend it, I changed out the engine oil and filter to get Rotella T6 synthetic 5W40 into my tractor.

Throw a big piece of cardboard under the tractor to make it easy to slide in and out while working underneath.

Thanks for the feedback, folks!

I just looked in the Owner's Manual and found that it too doesn't specify changing engine oil and filter. I've got time to ponder: have two cars to work on before my work bay is available for the tractor work; also waiting on my new drain pan to get delivered. New garage, now I can actually work on a smooth surface (now have a creeper :D), and out of the rain!

Are the transmission/HST filters and engine oil filters only available through Kioti?

I just double checked in my manual, not only does it state to change oil and filter at 50 hrs , it has a side note that says MUST BE DONE. A simple phone call to the dealer would be in order so you know for sure.

The service manual shows oil and oil filter changes for tier 3 engines, but for the tier 4 engines they don't. The only place where they say to change it is on the back if that first page of the Owner's manual (which is full of errors).

Went to the dealer and picked up hydro filters and engine oil filter. Better to just do the engine oil and filter: I tend to run Delo 400LE 5W-40 in all my diesels, so it too will go in the Kioti. Eric, thanks for the link to the Donaldson hydro filter in the cross-reference thread; I missed it in time to save over $60!

What hydro fluid do people use to top off with when changing filters at this first interval? I forgot to pick up something from the dealer (fluid and oil I'll buy elsewhere, so I had it in my mind that I wasn't going to buy any hydro fluid from them).

I'm finally gearing up to do the work... Need to get some hydraulic fluid (top-off after filter change- don't want to introduce any issues so I'll go get what the dealer has) and gear oil.

On changing the transmission filter people have tricks to keep from losing a lot of fluid. I've read where some Kioti tractors have their vent in the fill cap/plugs. Is that the case with the NX series? If so, then I figure getting a stopper for the fill hole will take care of this: no need to track down my wife to operate the vacuum (as that trick goes).

OK, "completed." I only managed to get about 1 1/2 gallons of fluid in the front axle (specs show 1.85) and now I see I'm a bit high (so will have to drain some out). I let the fluid drain for quite a long time (barely a drip out of either side). Any ideas about this discrepancy?

Anyone running across this in preparation of their 50hr service ought to be prepared to have to apply massive amount of force to get the various filters removed. Some claim it's because of Kioti painting the filters, but the oil filter was as overly-torqued as the hydraulic filters and it, the oil filter, is/was not painted.

I would run it a few days before I drain any of the new fluid, it probably hasn't completely filled up the lower knuckles out at the wheels yet. they will need to be tilted back and forth and run a bit before the air works its way out.

You should change out the oil filter and oil also. HST requires a fluid change on the tranny also according to my manual.

I just bought a complete set of filters from a guy on EBay for $139.99 delivered. The Fuel filter, HST, Tranny, oil and air. Only the Hydro is Kioti. The rest are Baldwin or Donaldson. Do a search for Kioti filter kits on EBay. AC Delco PF9 oil filter will fit your tractor. I recently bought 10 for $41.50 delivered from EBay.

Thanks for the info, Jim.

My manual (as well as the service manual) doesn't indicate a need to change hydraulic fluid at the 50hr service mark. The reasoning seems to go that the initial filters have pretty much taken out all the manufacturing debris by this hour mark, and the fluid itself won't be broken down with such low hours: if anything is in the fluid a new filter isn't going to be removing it- system isn't spec'd to remove it in which case the manufacturer isn't worried about such particle sizes. The dealer didn't push fluid on me either: I did buy some for the axle and to top off the hydraulics.

Is your tractor a gear or HST? Did you change out the front axle fluid?

I found my oil filter and fuel filter were extremely tight on my tractor. I thought I was going to break the fuel filter bracket when I removed it. Mine jelled up in 3 degree weather so I removed it do a proper cleanout of it.
