I build a trailer using rear axle from Renault Fuego I found on a junk yard. It has two trailing arms sprung by a torsion bars. My guess is, based on the size of the car, it is rated at most 1500 lb. I designed the trailer such a way when overloaded the shocks will bottom. My wife needed some river gravel for one of her projects so I drove to near by lanscaping place and asked for one scoop. I don't know how heavy it was but but I shot in the first intersection with squeeling tires when the light changed to red. The trailer was overloaded quite few times but I still have it after 30 years since I made it. It required only one new bearing cartridge that seized due to rust because of failed seal.

Yes. I think it is his way encouraging his regulars to buy good used cars and not support the scammer used car dealers.

The last one I took to him that he rejected had the computer reset 4 times under 10 miles by the used car dealer after its oxygen sensors had been replaced. (he figured that out by reading the computer history in the vehicle). I asked why they would rest the computer. He said so they could hide that it needs new catalytic converters. That and a list of other problems it had caused me to return it and say "no thanks". My next one was dealer maintained, checked out clean and has been trouble free.
If it needs converters it's burning oil. Been there done that with my last GM and stuck rings. Use 1qt every 600 to 800 miles.

Well,, it was so nice, I hooked up the 10AT cart to the 4105, and I was going to move some leaves,,,

Then, I remembered this thread,,, I did not want to overload the rear axle on the tractor,,
you guys would have fussed at me,,,

After that,, I just disconnected the cart, and went for a ride,,,
I forgot to remove the front end weights,
I had added to them make sure the front end did not come up while moving the leaves.

I kinda like this time of the year,,,

I had a GM Northstar that would burn about that much. I read a posting from one of the engineers who helped design the engine recommending putting it in 2nd gear on an open road, redlining the engine, coasting down to normal speed, redlining the engine, coasting down to normal speed .... About 5 to 10 times. His theory was that the coasting down would suck the rings back out. I did it a number of times and it would get around 2500 miles between quarts. An oil change or two and it would be back to 600 to 800 miles. I eventually got tired of finding an open road and just added oil every other time I bought gas.

Tough Winter he's got going there though..... good thing he's got those weights up front to balance the big back blade he needs to push all that snow around !

Sigh.... Freezing rain here today....

3930Dave echoed my thoughts. We are covered in ice and packed snow and would be delighted if there were only 6 more weeks of winter!
I almost have my wife convinced to relocate to a warmer clime now that she is retired...

Truck was probably good but that poor trailer was not happy.

To be unloaded by hand?!?! Jesus.

I see a blue tractor in background. He may go up ramps to unload most of the trailer, then shovel rest off the tarp into bucket. Same with truck, unload with bucket and then shovel rest into bucket. Just a thought. Jon

I have a summer home in Nova Scotia, but will never be there in winter.
I grew up in the New England. No more Northern winter for me .....ever!

That trailer will have 7k axles, so you can be at 14k on the trailer axles, plus put another 2k on the tongue. Not sure on how much gravel that is, but he may not be terribly overloaded. He sure needs a dump trailer.

Around here, it's $90/hr for a dump truck and driver, and the pit is about 20 minutes away. It does not pay to haul your own gravel with a pickup and trailer in our situation unless you just need a yard or two.

Why do you want your wife to relocate and leave you??

Now that my wife is retired, she has mentioned getting a place down south as well. I'm still working and I just assumed she was talking about both of us moving! I better check of clarification!

Nobody commented, the hood is up on the truck?

Maybe that's not his house, its only as far as he got up the grade when the engine puked.

Hard to say, would be an easier call if we knew it was a chevy ;)
