I will wash the green off but leave the original paint and wipe it down with a diesel rag.

View attachment 497497I've been off work for a week and usually don't get on here much at home. Many pages back I mentioned getting a new sled. First trip out was great. It far outperforms my old sled (2012)
In SLC it is raining a little with more rain/snow mix until Wednesday. Temps are mild with it being 48 right now at 11 pm.

Man, with a sled like that, you might wish for winter all year long...

That looks like a lot of fun.

Roofing contractor came over. I've been doing a lot of research. White metal is most efficient. Actually substantially better than galvalume in the emissivity factor, which is the ability to shed heat by radiation.

Here's a link to a video that I am going to follow his guidelines fairly close.

Don, the uncertainty comes from your question about keeping the pests and insects out. Contractor says the standard is to put a long drip ledge at the fascia board and give the drip ledge about a 1/8" air gap. I have used Scotch Brite sanding pads in the past in crevices of construction to allow breathing. But from the video above, it needs good air movement....so I need to research that a bit more.

I will be blowing in more insulation in the attic.

21F this morning, snowing hard. It snowed on and off overnight and stopped mid day today. Temp up to 37F, about 8" new on top of the frozen 8" under. Still missing a 1099 but got going on the other tax stuff.

Sorry I can't get it to display temp in Fahrenheit but... warm northwest breeze and clear blue skies.
That nice back blade would look good here, but shipping might be a little pricey. Am going to seek a shade tree and get the saw going for the afternoon.

I looked at the video in theory it looks good. At night the airflow should stop so as not to bring all that humid night air in. For the bottom edge instead of sanding pads I'd use copper mesh. I use it around the house in the weep holes of the rock. over time it looses it's shine and takes on the color of an old penny. It does not turn green or corrode. It comes in rolls and you can fold it in half or fourths to stop pests from invading that 1/8" air gap.

Weather here is still nice for this time of year. 50 degrees and real cloudy, snowing in the mountains though.
For those who ask how I get air going uphill, here it is. In this picture we are jumping off the cornice going down. However, that hill would have been great for going up and jumping at the cornice. All it takes is a lot of speed. The snow was fresh and soft in this picture so I think if we would have jumped uphill we could not have gotten enough speed and might have gotten stuck on the landing. Thats why we were jumping off not up. In the prior picture (red sled) I was going about 45-50MPH when I hit the top, so lift off was easy.
