Back in 1984 when our gubbermint (in its infinite wisdom) came up with its nuclear-free policy it also announced its decision to ban ships that were either nuclear-powered or -armed. (USS Buchanan) The US has a policy to ‘neither confirm nor deny’ the presence of nuclear weapons on any of their warships and this led to a stalemate. So from 1984 until Nov last year no US navel vessel of any sort has been near here.
