Cool thread you guys! I noticed it a while back, but just read from cover to cover this morning.

My dad farmed vegetables from 1974-2013 with Ford tractors. He started with a '49 8n and then bought a second one in about 1994. The second one was a 1952 with the Sherman over-under and electronic ignition. Also, the brakes worked, so it was a substantial upgrade :).

Still, though, they were poor tractors for what we needed to do (rototill, bush hog, etc.). Just geared too fast and no longer hydraulics or PTO. So I sold the 1952 last year and I've got the '49 on Craigslist right now.

If dad had bought a 3 cylinder 3000 or even a 600 or 800 series machine, I probably would keep them around, but I just don't have much love for the 8ns. I did buy a NH to replace them, but it's actually a Shibaura, so kind of a whole different deal.

Here's my dad on the '52. rps20161218_103239.jpg

These ford super-Q and MF 3000 series of same era are still better cabs than todays .

My 1963 Ford 4000 Row Crop with the Select-O-Speed transmission.
This is how we found it, mid re-boot and on my place a couple of weeks ago. Had been sitting for many years.

Washed the 4630 yesterday so I could haul it this morning to get the right rear tire repaired. Bush hogged Labor Day weekend and must have gotten a thorn or something in it. IMG_2315.JPGIMG_2319.JPG

Gotta love that tractor!!!! Aren't they turbo'd?

Friend of mine has a 4610. He asked me a couple months ago if I knew where he could find a pair of rear weights like yours? I said I've only saw a couple sets in my life. Hard to find around here. :)

The later ones are turbos. Not sure what year they started. They may have put turbos on when they added the new holland name. This one is a 1993 and isn't. The man I got it from put 2 sets of weights on the rear and had another set.
