Did you see the name on the tractor? It's really small print. There's literally no tractor cake that says Kubota

It's my understanding that some brands use several different manufacturers so in the end this isn't really about what color paint and stickers are on the tractor, it's who actually makes them in India, Korea, China, Japan, etc...

Yes, this is important because the more scattered out and the more farmed out the production of a machine is, the less control a company has over quality.

Many of the Japanese makers of cars, tractors etc. have a very controlled and close network of who manufactures who input parts into their product. There is a name for the network but I cannot remember it. Guess where they learned this technique for quality? Edward Demming... the USA guy they sent over after we finished WWII to help them get back on their feet. The Japan actually listened to Demming while the US auto makers snubbed him.

The Demming quality concept was the less variability of the input into a product the better your chance for high quality finished product (i.e. get one parts supplier that does things right and with quality and stick with them.)

Below are his 14 points but number 4 is the one I was referring to.. don't award your parts supplier contract to the cheapest supplier.

For this reason I say that Kubota and Iseki are my two favorite.. not because of specs, or Rush Limbo adds.

Both of those tractors were common in my area. The 4020 could do more work by noon than the M could do in a longgggg day. No comparison at all in their capabilities. The 4020 moved the JD tractor line into the modern arena. Arguably the best tractor JD ever made. If the M is the best tractor Farmall ever made they came up far short.

They are from different eras I don't think it would be fair to compair them. Like comparing an old snowmobile from the 70s to one to the early 2000s. Completely different.

I will say that the M Farmall as far as pure pulling power is probably some of the cheapest iron you can still buy today. Since you can pick up an M for about a grand or two if you look. They sell them pretty cheap or did the last time I looked.

"IHs" response to the 4020 might have been the 706 or 806?? In my opinion they still came up short.
