I know Hudson , is located in barneville NY. I was wondering what the price of their winches were compared to other brands? Uniforest. I'm in Newfoundland. There are no winched here go look at. And the only price I can see is approximately $ 4000 usd, for a 35m 7700lb. My tractor is a mahindra 28 hp. Less on the pto

Hud-son is in Barneveld, NY (about 60 miles east of Syracuse). The Uniforest 35M would be a good match for your Mahindra 2816. (as would a Farmi 351 or several other brands). I own the 35E, predecessor to the 35M.

We have a snow storm coming, they usually go around us, but we will get some of the snow, and I think some very cold days. SO, I moved a couple boxes of dry wood, one full cord in all, up to the basement windows,

I covered both boxes, so when needed, we will have nice dry snow free splits to throw down to the wood stove.

Life is G :) :) D lol

Hudson is about 5 or 6 hrs from me on the other side of ny, I looked at the uniforest winches online and looked at prices but that was as far as I got with them. I went with the wallenstien fx110 with 3 extra choker chains and keyhole sliders and a self releasing snatch block and got it shipped to my door from woodward crossings cheaper than I could get it anywhere else around me.

Why is it, when you're down to your last piece of the day to split, the splitter runs out of gas!

About 510 pieces split this afternoon, give or take.

How many peices does it take for you to make a cord? Nice stacks BTW.

I'm not sure. I don't measure it out by cord. I make a round stack that's 10' in diameter and 8' high. That's just shy of 5 cords. That seems to last me a full winter. I used to make them 10' high for about 6 cords, but I always ended up with wood left over the next spring. Only once have I used a full 6 cords. That winter I lit the fire October 1st and burned till April 1st. I used a total of 4 matches that winter!!! Brrrr!!!

Last year I did not gather enough wood for this year (under the black tarp), but fortunately, its been a mild winter until this week. I'll have just enough. The stack not tarped in the picture is for next year. I finished it off to 8' high with the pieces I split today after I took the pictures. It's supposed to snow tomorrow, so I just got it done in time.

Here's the math, if anyone's interested....

Pi times the radius squared times the height = volume of a cylinder.
A cord is 4 x 4 x 8 = 128 cubic feet.

3.14 x 25 x 8 = 628 cubic feet.
628/128 = 4.9 cords.

3.14 x 25 x 10 = 785 cubic feet.
785/128 = 6.13 cords.
