I recently had an old junk mattress fly on me. I thought it was tied down well enough, and well; parts of it were. I had a strap across the front, a strap across the back, and a strap diagonal across it. I was doing about 55, and had a HARD gust of wind come along. Hard enough the mattress pulled loose from one of the end straps as it broke the springs and structure, and folded over along the diagonal strap. I only lost some stuffing/padding out of it but surely would have lost the broken section had I tried to continue on. It had felt like I had been rear-ended lifting up on the back of my truck when the gust broke stuff loose.

I was going down an old farm to market road last night, and I always use caution because of deer. I almost hit what I'll call a ladder rack that came out of someone's pickup bed in the middle of the road. I pulled over to drag it onto the shoulder, and here comes another car. I signalled my flashlight at her, and even pointed it at the object. Then I just got out of the way so she could hit it.

I had someone try to pass me on the right while I was making a right turn once and caused a collision. She was yelling at me, telling me I shouldn't have been turning right until the cop got there. The cop wrote her up right off the bat. Even her boyfriend when he got there chewed her out. A lot of bad drivers want to blame someone else for their accidents.

I've known some drivers that when you ride with them, they seemed like good drivers, until something went wrong. I had a co worker that was fine but if there was a semi truck, flipped over in the middle of the road, cops blocking the road with flashing lights on, he would just plow straight into it. There shouldn't be anything in the middle of the road right?

100% agree, you never know until something goes wrong. Was driving with a friend of a friend once, and when the light turned green he backed right up into the car behind him. The poor lady in that car, her eyes were as big as saucers when five big guys got out of the car that just backed into her. We were mostly standing there quietly until the driver looked at the lady and said something about how she should have blown her horn or got out of the way or something. All four of our heads turned to the driver at the same time and were like "WTF?" Then all four of us started chewing him out at the same time and calling him a moron for backing into someone and then trying to blame it on them.
After she got his insurance info, all four passengers gave her our names and numbers and told her to call us as witnesses if he tried to blame it on her with insurance. Some people will do anything to save a buck, even at someone else's expense.
