I picked up a new PTO powered chipper

Took a little trip on Friday to pick up a used Salsco 826 PTO powered chipper. It was one owner and in great shape. I currently have a Salsco 627XT, but thought I'd give the 826 a go. I hooked up the 826 today and I think it's a safe bet that I'll be selling the 627XT.

I saw that also on the local Craigslist and also an 824 model. Both are very nice units, with auto feed and a dedicated hydraulic system so no remotes required.

I've been thinking about buying one for quite a while but haven't looked at this model. Ilike the Woodmaxx stuff but it seems lightweight compared to the pro grade Vermeer 906 and Bandit 200 PTO chippers. How much does this one weigh?

I ended up getting it for $3000. It's a year 2000 in great shape, doesn't appear to be used too much. New list is $10,800. A dealer up in Maine has a new one on "special" for $9800.

It weighs in at 1560 lbs. It's very well built and rugged!

Nice. That's a good bit heavier than the Woodmaxx models which are only 1,000 or less depending on model.
