Rotary Cutter Advice on Rotary Cutter options for L35 Kubota

I agree with LD1. Go with the heavier 5' 305 as you will need it in the woods. I went with a 5' LP 1860 and while it is good for most things, it won't handle 3" and I could have used that more times than I can count. Any cutter will handle the grass but in the woods you need the more rugged cutter.

The deck looks good on it in pictures with no repairs, etc, doesnt have a lot of paint left though, and the seller says its excellent operationally with new front seal and blades. Im not sure what else I would need to look at, and what I should expect to have on hand for common repairs? They made that model so long, Im sure parts are readily available?

The TW60 I saw in person. Looked new!

How do the Tennessee River's hold up comparitively to the big names that I listed? I see you have been selling them for quite a while... Is there something that compares steel, boxes, welds, etc? I started out looking at a less expensive Lowery LMC Andy cutter, but it just wasnt built out of anywhere near the materials as the Rhino 160 and TW60 sitting next to it. The gearbox was a 40hp and just 'looked' so comparatively small and weak. I just dont think it would hold up to the potential beating in the woods.

We have not had any issues wit the TRI cutters. If I were you, I would not buy anything that I did not feel comfortable with. After all, you are the only one who knows exactly what you will be cutting. Ken Sweet

Ken, do you guys have any great deals going on land levelers/grading scrapers (like this... GS15 Series Grading Scrapers | Land Pride ) ? I have been told they can keep a gravel drive maintained much more easily than a box blade... Im not looking for anything super high end here, just something to make maintenance of my 900ft long driveway quicker... (and I suck with a box blade... always bumpy when Im done)

About the only thing to keep on hand is maybe a spare bolt set and spare set of blades. Thats the only thing that ever "should" require replacement.

And it really dont matter what cutter you own...or what brand.....if you have a HD cutter and trash a gearbox......there really is only two logical options. Scrap the cutter or adapt/modify to an aftermarket (china) cheaper gearbox. Because all of the OEM boxes for HD cutters are gonna exceed the cost of the cutter to repair....normally. Now changing some bearings or a seal in a gearbox is a different story. In which case I wouldnt use OEM to source parts for anyway.

Everything else is just metal. If you do manage to bend or break something.....straightening and welding is whats done....not part replacement.

So again....really just need some blade bolts (~$20/set) and a spare set of blades (~$100/set) and your covered

No, Sorry can't help on that. If I recall correctly, we have sold 2 of those in 37 years. Pretty slow movers. Ken Sweet

I spoke with Lowery - LMC in Boaz and they said they build a truly heavy duty cutter, and based on the description it really does seem that way. Its around $1500 new 7ga steel with 120hp gearbox, very heavy. They did say the Andy, which is the one I looked at previously was a light duty model and not comparable to this HD. Thats about an 1.5 hr drive for me, so I may go check those out next week if I get the chance. You guys aware of anyone that has experience with these?

Have you looked into renting? The rental places near me keep their equipment in pretty good shape and between the choices I have I can try out plenty of different brands to see what I like. It could be an option to learn what works best for you and your land.
